    Pros

    The benefits are good

    Cons

Management and them being blind to the truth.
Managements lack of respect with regards to employees
    Confidential information.
Managmenet threatening their employees, with statements
Such as "I will pull the trigger like I did to so n so".
    Management micro management of employees.
Management's lack of knowledge of what everyone in
    The departments job functions are.
Telling management the truth about whats happening.
Human resources as they make you believe they are on
Side, when they always back the company or manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop getting rid of people that have all the knowledge
    And getting rid hard workers.
Even though management doesn't want to hear the truth,
They should take a hard look at what's going on in their department.

    Pros

Great perks! Great benefits, bring your dog to work in some locations, flex time, etc. Good training and development programs, possible career growth, but very polictical. Nice people...everyone is friendly.Great products.

    Cons

Their motto is work hard, play hard...and it is very demanding company. They don't do conflict well. If you disagree with the status quo, you are looked at as a trouble maker. So, everyone agrees with the status quo, but trashes this issues or problems behind managements back. They don't talk about the 'white elephant' in the room or are direct about anything. Very polictical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn that conflict is ok, from disagreements, great break though and ideas can come. HR is afraid of conflict and it is suppressing the creative of the company. No one can be open or authentic. They is a lot of fear about being open and authentic there.

    Pros

Nice headquarters. Largely cool people but you run across quite a few "it's not my job" type of people even though it is their job for some basic things I needed from them.

    Cons

There is a severe lack of process there. For every little thing you do, you have to reinvent the wheel every single time. Meetings, meetings and more meetings. This can't totally be avoided because of the geographically dispersed offices, but half the meetings can easily be cut out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Commit to top-down initiatives to standardize processes and streamline simple things. It will save a lot of time and money.

    Pros

Great Benefits n good people in various areas of the company, just not managment.

    Cons

Managment's lack of knowledge of their employee job duties. Doesnt handle conflict directly and shoves it under the carpet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take some People Skills courses, so you can speak to employees with respect.

    Pros

I've worked for Autodesk for almost seven years. I worked for four other employers previously; non-profit, for-profit, Fortune 50, high-tech, no-tech, ect. This is the best of them all and I'm not thinking about leaving. Autodesk has the benefits of an established company in a fast-paced and innovative industry. It is truly a global company with equal amounts of revenue coming from AMER, EMEA and APAC. It is a good company; kind to the environment, fair to employees and contributes positively to the communities where it is located. Carl Bass, the CEO, socializes with employees, especially on a field, track or court.

    Cons

Often long and odd hours; calls at 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. People get in here and stay, so you really have to impress to get ahead. Poor performers are not always dealt with so you have to work around them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a new way to manage the street. US employees need more vacation time.

    Pros

Decent work life balance most of the time
Good benefits plus 6 week sabbatical for U.S. employees every 4 years
Really like the new consumer products area Autodesk is getting into
    Casual work environment

    Cons

    Too many meetings about nothing
Pay is mainly in the mid-range, although senior management is paid very well
Individual contributors are not well compensated - you need to be a manager to have a decent salary
Most mid-level managers manage their teams poorly - they need more training
Non-revenue generating departments are extremely tight with their budgets and stretch their employees
Annual employee survey doesn't show much results
Carl Bass doesn't have company wide meetings
