I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

The matrix structure means nobody has full control or knowledge of my day-to-day activities. There is freedom as far as what hours I work and what projects I spend my time on. In general, there is not a lot of structure and very little guidance is provided. It's expected that you will figure out what works and get it done. Lots of fun if you enjoy the challenge of being thrown into a tough situation with no idea what you're doing. Difficult problems, smart people, a constant learning experience.

    Cons

There is definitely a slave driver mentality with little concern for employees' overall well-being. This results in high turnover as people get burned out. All of the negative comments about the company are based in fact. But most of these conditions can also be positive if you happen to have the attitude and mindset required to fit in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make more of an effort to keep people around. There is a huge loss in efficiency every time we lose someone with irreplaceable knowledge, and this happens far too often.

I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

-they hire you based on your post-secondary education, and don't nitpick on whether or not you have the latest certifications or not
-free soft drinks + free lunch on fridays
-free pizza from time to time
    -profitable company
-a job is a job is a job

    Cons

-would like to receive more reviews and feedback from the top
-raises and bonuses are very sporadic, but they are generous when they do actually occur

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the underlings know from time to time (not just by company memo) that they're doing a good job.

Regular pay raises would be nice.

I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

Good structured company. For a large company, extremely nimble and supportive towards sales and company goals. Good benefits, compensated well.

    Cons

Company does not always communicate well and information sharing is limited. For a technology company, does not use technology in the most efficient manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to encourage better communication and sharing across the company. Create a more collaborative model and encourage teamwork in a better fashion.

I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

Diverse range of products, and wide variety of customers.
Lots of travelling, offers a good lifestyle for people who manage their time.
People seem to be compensated well.

    Cons

    Lots of travelling.
A lot of the skills you need have to be picked up on the spot, and quite a bit of improvisation is needed to complete the task.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure training for the necessary work is given before deploying projects, this will allow the project to be completed to higher standards.

I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

outstanding technology. significant rewards for some. lots of great customers. awesome people from more countries and backgrounds you can count on any map!

    Cons

be prepared to suffer the long a winding road if you arenâ??t one of the well-educated â??elliteâ?? from the very few top universties from which management choose â??only the bestâ??. this obviously short sighted policy means lots of great people just donâ??t make the grade

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

its hard to criticise financial success or great products i know but not everyone is a green beret performer. as someone else on this site has already said not everyone has the same "take that hill" abilities so maybe give the tougher challenges to the tougher people and share the opportunities around a bit more?

I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

The perks, food, transportation and technology being the main ones, and there are lots of things that make it a geek's paradise. It looks good on your resume â?? very successful cash rich and growing quarter on quarter. The chance to meet some very bright and interesting people every day though there is heavy emphasis on education. It's cool to be on the inside and learn about new products the top organisations are now usingâ?¦ particularly in legal space

    Cons

If you have a PhD from a top university you can do some fascinating things, but if you donâ??t then youâ??ll find yourself swimming upriver very slowly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember not everyone has a brain road tested in Stanford
