I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

    Good Technology
Nice SF office location but way too many in the office

    Cons

No set account lists, territories, etc. Reps are out running into each other and management thinks this is a good business practice.
HP bought them but this IS NOT HP! The culture here is toxic, nobody trusts anyone, technical resources are very limited. You better have a deal on the table before you can get any resources.
Very strict and stringent daily metrics that must be met.. 5 face to face meetings a week, 1 proposal a week.
NO Training, Whitepapers aren't white papers they are marketing briefs, nobody will explain the technology..It's a secret!
Worst environment and people I have ever been apart of!
    Unbelieveable expense management system

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HP executives PLEASE get rid of the Autonomy management team, put rules in place on how to do business with current HP companies and HP account teams.
Take a REAL look at their current business practices, you would be shocked!

    Pros

Overall products are okay to work with.
Hp aquisition has given hope for better structure instead of startup mentality

    I worked at Autonomy

    Pros

The cafe is pretty good. free coffee & snacks. Would provide good material for a horrible office sit-com or blog. Free lunch on Friday. You'll learn how a company should not be run.

    Cons

It's all been said. I would have been happier cleaning up after dogs than working for these Stepford Execs. If you have one shred of respect for yourself and self worth avoid this place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

no need to, they are PHDs and know it all. maybe it is the English way.

    I worked at Autonomy

    Pros

    Competitive Salary
Entrepreneurial Spirit (I'm trying to come up with something)

    Cons

    Leadership lack Morals
Executive leadership use bully tactics internally (employees) and externally (customers)
Lack of institutional Trust across all levels
    Lack of institutional control
    No value of people asset
    Arrogance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The sales teams are pitted against each other. The executive team has no logical explanation for this and as you can imagine this structure leads to internal bickering and nepotism when it comes to management. Customers suffer from lack of account management and internal controls. Good luck HP as you probably already know you bought a sack load of manure.

Work which is intellectually engaging at times and offers a flexible schedule but overall a numbing cultural experience.

I have been working at Autonomy

    Pros

Generous vacation is offered. Allows for a relaxed work-lifestyle given that your work schedule can be flexible. Exposure to other product offerings and possible career changes. Employees with a proactive attitude can thrive here. Good stock options or restricted stock units rewarded. Good bonus plan.

    Cons

An ambiguous company structure from an employee career growth perspective. No annual salary increases. Additional compensation based on qualitative milestones. Employee review or assessments are not well structured or non-existent in some cases. Impersonal culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide career paths or options for employees. More clarity to the review process for employee performance assessment and its translation to compensation.

    Pros

HP recently purchased them and appears changes are coming (hopefully to management)
    Pay is OK
    They have Free Lunch Fridays

    Cons

    Treat employees poorly
    Management is clueless
    No advancement opportunities
No HR review process or annual raises (get your money going in because you will never see another dime)
    High turnover rate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a review process for employees and merit increases
It is hard to keep good people if you do not incent them!
For the love of god.... contribute more than $1000 annually to 401K. Most real companies match employees contributions!

    2. Free lunch Friday.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Dear HP,
Please look closely and audit all operational aspect of Autonomy. Please talk and listen to employees and come up with a good and tangible plan to address many of their concerns. Please assess the corporate culture, analyze the low employee retention rate and act to address them.
