    Pros

Part a great parent company, (Cox Enterprises) Benefits are above the norm A respected industry leader, highly involved in giving back to the community

    Cons

After many acquisitions, some of them years ago, have not truly leveraged the ability to integrate them. Each works off of their own objectives and often to the detriment of the others. The company has also lost it's "caring feel" in regards to their employees. In the past you felt like a valued person. Now you are only recognized by a number.

    Advice to Management

Help with greater focus. Company is currently driven by the newest wiz bang program that will fizzle out until the next wiz bang thing is drummed up. Focus on what is truly important and put your efforts there consistently!

I worked at Autotrader full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, great coworkers, and volunteer opportunities.

    Cons

This used to be a GREAT company under the old leadership of Chip Perry. However, once Chip left the company took a nose dive. Micro management, no good leadership, no policy or procedures set in place. You have to be in the know to advance, management has no loyalty to their employees ( they start and end the gossip! and forget about going to HR...it's a joke). Most employees are stressed to the point of no return.

    Advice to Management

Provide your employees with "Real" training to succeed at their job, provided "Real" advancement opportunities for your dedicated employees and stop letting managers bring their friends from outside. Last but defiantly not least Get rid of ALL middle management and start over!

I have been working at Autotrader full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are great benefits. The people are very friendly and helpful. Office environment is laid back. There are flexible work hours and depending on your department you have the option to work from home at times.

    Cons

There are not too many cons I can think of but you have to take control of your career path. Otherwise you can get stuck doing the same role for too long.

I worked at Autotrader full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

AutoTrader was overall a friendly working environment. Competitive salary, good benefits, lots of nice and talented people (though most don't work there anymore).

    Cons

Years ago, Autotrader had a powerhouse UX team of 30+ people but you wouldn't have known it by looking at the website. Many talented people were held back by process and politics. You had to be comfortable taking orders.

I worked at Autotrader as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible with hours. Great work life balance. A lot of opportunity for movement within the company. Also very LBGT and minority friendly, diversity is encouraged and adds a lot to keeping perspectives fresh

    Cons

It's all online so you don't really see things through to completion since it's all in cyber space. And you spend 6 months working on something and by the time you're done, it's obsolete

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at Autotrader full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    * Building a winning culture is apparent. Company wants employees who want to Win and who want to be there. * Product is solid and easy to believe in. * Beautiful building/workspace * Community Involvement is top-notch!!!

    Cons

    * Mobile strategy & execution is behind others in the space * Too many meetings * Decisions are "by committee" too many times; need leaders to make decisions - bad or good - and then handle the consequences. Leaders seem afraid to make a wrong decision. * Traffic getting out of the area around the building is very bad/borders on horrific.

    Advice to Management

    * Focus on Mobile; there needs to be as much focus on mobile as there was on changing the logo or removing the "dot com" from the name * Make sure all levels of employees feel like there are opportunities for growth (note: this doesn't always mean moving up) * Maintain the community involvement initiatives * Allow for flexible work schedules more because of traffic around Perimeter

I worked at Autotrader as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun place to work, great employees. They treat their employees well and focus on work life balance, goal setting, and training. Very diverse environment and opportunity for advancement and personal growth.

    Cons

I was a contractor and felt like contractors are treated like second class citizens with regard to the restrictions. Other than that everyone was really nice.
