    Pros

People and environment are great. Fun projects to work on.

    Cons

As with anywhere, there are some people and some departments that experience turmoil. I find that it's less here than at other places.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Gain more focus as you have been over the past year. Slow down the number of changes taking place as that makes people nervous. At least be a little more transparent with changes.

Once an awesome and unique startup... now a holding company trying to run leaner... yet handing out huge payouts.

    Pros

Lots of cummunity support / service opportunities. Friendly and casual culture. Good parent company (Cox). Lots of investmentent in coaching and development. Great consumer brands and software solutions. Lots of opportunity to leverage these assets with Manheim and other Cox divisions.

    Cons

Very driven by sales organization (what sales wants sales gets). Trying to be more strategic and less tactical but no big changes yet. Trying to change car business and car dealers is like moving a mountain. Lots of pushback in industry and new solutions are stealing market share. Limited career advancement. Promotions based on networking. This results in some leaders who are super networkers but have no idea how to manage specialized teams. Company needs more leaders with specialized skills in product, marketing, sales, customer service, etc. Also, budgets and headcount need to be reduced to help the company run leaner. Got fat and happy during early days.

    Advice to Management

Exec comp plans and buyout packages are insane when compared to people immediately below... leading to some directors and VPs checking out. Not only operations need to be leaner, but exec comp should be leaner as well. Step out of your office and talk to people more.

    Pros

Fun environment and people who are very productive with minimal politics. Great perks, good salary, bonus structure, excellent benefits, 401k match, pension plan, employee discounts, covered parking, cafeteria, onsite fitness center, community service opportunities Interesting business - everyone can relate to automobiles in some way (performance, feel, look, value, image, financial, economy, fuel economy, etc.)

    Cons

There was a time period where there was a fear of layoffs. That was a hard time but it seems like they are well over the hump from the time when the industry took a hit.

    Advice to Management

Keep the original creative energy going as you grow and acquire other companies.

    Pros

Young company, still building infrastructure Diversifying-no longer a one dimensional company Growth oriented for employees Exceptional benefits, which includes bonuses and stock options for management level

    Cons

Still in flux Unclear how to handle competition In the midst of changing company direction Very silo'ed organization, very little communication across departments

    Advice to Management

Redefine company values to not just be corporate buzz-phrases Identify go to products Simplify product set

    Pros

Intelligent, fun (yet professional HR), hard working HR department. Employees are really motivated and love working at ATC. The culture is really lively and embraces change and innovation.

    Cons

Executive leadership micro manages down to all levels and needs to improve delegation and empowerment. High turnover in the HR department due to poor leadership. Even the most motivate and intelligent HR members can not sustain the pace of change which often requires an average of 60-70 hours/week. Since I left there are only 2 of the original HR team members still on the team of 20

    Advice to Management

Empower your directors and managers so you can focus on the strategic initiatives of the future.
