I have been working at Autotrader full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is fair, lots of opportunity for advancement. Huge company so if you're not happy with your position, there are plenty of other opportunities within the group. Great team and morale all around.

    Cons

One of the cons is also one of it's pros. Making your own schedule and being self disciplined can be difficult but if done right can make the job that much better. Sometimes the territory you are assigned may be far away from your home but not too bad.

    Pros

Company has an early legacy of being a high rolling, fun, exciting place to work...however

    Cons

After CEO "Chip" Perry was forced out along with other highly successful executives...the politics, empire building began. Net results? Incompetent executives placing their incompetent friends in positions of authority. Since January 2015 no less than 4 high level VPs were broomed! Numerous tentured Sales Directors fired ( even those with above average performance trends) and several District level managers with golden performance records. Using the old "employment at will" escape clause is working overtime! The fields level of confidence in ATL is at an all time low and to add insult to injury they are oblivious. Time for Cox to wake up and replace Schwartz and Rowe... It just isn't working!

    Advice to Management

COX corporate...The insensitive, cold hearted firings of so many revered leaders is destroying what little confidence the sale force has. Many ACs have simply surrendered their pursuits of a career into a simple "job" and the lack of sales confirms this. Get it together before it's to late.

    Pros

Great benefits for employees. If you want to live in Atlanta, even better benefits.

    Cons

Only real opportunities for advancement are at their headquarters in Atlanta. If you don't want to relocate, don't bother joining this company.

    Advice to Management

Treat all of your employees well. Using people with questionable ethics and backgrounds might take care of your problem children that you perceive, but will do nothing for your status for reliable employees.

    Pros

Health Benefits Pension 401k Work from home Virtual Training Some nice people left that care about career advancement Legal Assistance

    Cons

The newly promoted president has destroyed morale and is out of control. He is not a leader or approachable High turnover of field reps Currently commission checks can be zero It's just not worth the hassle anymore. To much work for to little money.

    Advice to Management

What happened to our humane side? Cox is supposed to be a family company that cares about employees? How can you sleep at night?

I worked at Autotrader full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Part a great parent company, (Cox Enterprises) Benefits are above the norm A respected industry leader, highly involved in giving back to the community

    Cons

After many acquisitions, some of them years ago, have not truly leveraged the ability to integrate them. Each works off of their own objectives and often to the detriment of the others. The company has also lost it's "caring feel" in regards to their employees. In the past you felt like a valued person. Now you are only recognized by a number.

    Advice to Management

Help with greater focus. Company is currently driven by the newest wiz bang program that will fizzle out until the next wiz bang thing is drummed up. Focus on what is truly important and put your efforts there consistently!
