    Pros

They provide training and certification in AX.

    Cons

Company is not able to find projects and falsely promises
its employees that they will be on projects soon. They kept me
waiting for months to place me on a project, and then laid me off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop making false promises and raising employees' expectations!!!
LEARN management lessons from your competitors!!!

I have been working at Avanade full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great Training. The culture is supportive and encourages helping other people and teamwork. Very easy to approach your boss and discuss things.

    Cons

You can get placed on really bad projects or no projects at all and you're just left all alone not really building any skills. The salary is lower than similar places.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and help people on the bench and help them do things for the company. Otherwise they will leave.

    Pros

Great technical team supporting the client, but with a price.

    Cons

Poor environment for selling success. More proposal loss, than winning! Pricing is is risk stacked beyond reasonabililty.
A desire to operate under Accenture only, and NOT practically competitive as an open market consultancy throughout the US.
Project or Program delivery (DIRECT) is weak and risky to the client.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.

Low pay, poor management, and no work/life balance.

I have been working at Avanade full-time

    Pros

They pay for Microsoft Certs. Overtime pay on top of salary for Analyst levels. Ability to work remotely at times depending on the project.

    Cons

Below average salary, very poor work/life balance. Not the place to work if you have a family, a social life, or both. The expectation is to work all your waking hours and the weekends if necessary, due to poor estimations and project management. Management is very poor. Can be somewhat of a frat-party. Not a lot of career growth opportunity for your skill position, career paths follow a more general "consultant" flow. They also hire people just to put bodies into positions, even if they don't have all of the necessary skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate your employees fairly and be reasonable and respectful with their time.

    Pros

You get to meet great people, and they pay for your
    Microsoft Certifications.

    Cons

If you're on the bench, be warned that you WILL BE laid off.
It doesn't matter how much the recruiters keep saying that you
    won't because they are lying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company needs to invest time in their employees and should
stop making lies to them. Since the company has billions in revenue,
why is it worried about keeping a small group of people on the bench?
Is it so hard or is it because they don't really care???

    Pros

Great coworkers, great pay, great chance for promotion, great benefits. They really take care of their people here at Avanade. Overall great culture.

    Cons

Non existent training for programmers, you have to train yourself. No work life balance, be prepared to work 12 to 16 hour days. If you are just coming out of school, make sure you are ready for this place, it is non stop work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are going to hire programmers out of school, give them actual training like you do for the business guys.

    Disorganized, disjointed, and lacking direction

I worked at Avanade full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Good benefits
    -Paid certifications
    -Big emphasis on training

    Cons

This is hands down the most unorganized organization I've ever been a part of. The training boot camp I attended was an utter waste of time. To their credit, i've spent MONTHS on the bench without getting laid off, but with no growth to show for it.

They expanded RADICALLY into several new Microsoft platforms (AX, CRM, GP), but just don't seem to have gotten the business to staff these people. I do not see a good future for these practices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People here aren't stupid and have worked for other consulting firms before--don't treat us like we are when you say "that's just consulting."

good exposure to Microsoft technologies since Avanade is partly owned by Microsoft

    Cons

not much sense of community since you're usually working out of area most of the time

Watch for long hours & hard accent

Former Employee - Group Manager/Solutions Architect in New York, NY

    I worked at Avanade

    Pros

Depending upon the project you can learn new technologies and the processes. Get good brand names on your resume. You will love the place if you like to write status reports – lot of them.

    Cons

Be ready for LONG hours. Go home/hotel after 7 PM ready for status call at 7 AM. Lot of (filler) work that does not produce any value or satisfaction. Projects get staffed by bodies that not necessarily have skills that are needed.

Don’t be surprise if you have given a full time resource (a developer in India) and the same resource is full time resource on other project at the same time. Probably they have 48 hours in one day.

At least for folks in the field corporate organization structure is too complex to understand and meaningless for any practical purpose. I am not sure whose purpose it is serving.

Too much pressure to maintain high billable hours and that creates a conflict resulting in unprofessional work ethics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Weed out the people who are around you for their looks and think about reverse discrimination.
