I have been working at Avanade full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Being owned by large and prestigious companies, Accenture and Microsoft, at Avanade there is a strong, collaborative culture that everyone is willing to help each other out, despite if you a new analyst, or a Sr. Director who's been there for over 10 years. You control your own career and the pace of where you want to go with guidance if you need it.

    Cons

At times work/life balance can be difficult, it comes with the consulting lifestyle and is something you must be willing to compromise with at times.

I have been working at Avanade full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is always something new to work on. You will have the opportunity to rotate through many different industries and technologies. Your peers will always encourage you to grow, learn, and challenge each other. Development teams that I have worked in the past are always enthusiastic and demonstrate a passion for the technology they are working on. The company as a whole stresses training and development in all aspects of software consulting, not just the technical side. The extended benefits that all the service line consultants receive are one of the best contested privileges in the IT world.

    Cons

Some of the assignments are remote work but not all, and this sometimes requires you to be an efficient time manager. You will be required to travel for other assignments for extended periods of time, and while I personally enjoyed traveling, there were some peers that would opt out of project assignments that would require traveling.

I have been working at Avanade full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

At Avanade, a culture of constant learning and stretching your own boundaries permeates daily life. I have worked with some of the smartest people I have met working here.

    Cons

Avanade is a large global organization which can be daunting to some people and is overwhelming when you first jump in. If you don't like being on the road all the time then this is not the company for you.

I have been working at Avanade full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Training to help you stay on top of the IT Curve. They also have a program called Passion for Technology. It is an awesome program that gives you benefits to purchase technology related products and expense them through out the year up to your qualified amount based on job title.

    Cons

Although the company offers training to it's employees, it is hard to find time to actually get to do it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over all this is a good company to work for. I would always like to see the option to be able to work from home more often. We are setup as a company to be able to do this but not given the option to?

I have been working at Avanade full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Top 5 reasons to consider working here:
    1) The collaboration is amazing.
    2) There is full communication across all levels within the company (Analyst to Director).
    3) Intellectual knowledge is freely shared, which makes learning a joy.
    4) Your worth is measured by your product knowledge - rather than your title.
    5) The training opportunities are exceptional. Certifications, classes, professional development - all inclusive.

    Cons

Top 3 reasons to look elsewhere:
    1) Accenture owns Avanade and the work cultures are very different. One rough Accenture project (and there's plenty of those) and you'll be on LInkedIn looking for your next opportunity.
    2) An overly collaborative environment unfortunately sacrifices any chance for true leadership development. There are plenty of Managers, but exceptionally few leaders here. Accenture is not looking for leaders with their hired help.
    3) The bonuses/pay-raises are insulting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on keepin' on. Be great if we could buy-out from Accenture, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I have been working at Avanade

    Pros

Training and career path are good and well defined.

    Cons

Expects a lot of its employees and isn't good at work life balance. Very few doors open to women in leadership roles even though they talk a lot about it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The COO is inexperienced , brash and generally unsupportive. He makes business decisions based upon very small samples of information and is totally out of touch with the consultants. A 2 billion dollar company could do much better.

I have been working at Avanade full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There's a lot of opportunity for learning and growing, good benefits, intelligent people (at least in certain areas).

    Cons

There is a lot of corporate bloat, slow-to-grasp people, and a lack of transparency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open and transparent about what you do and don't know.

    Pros

Works very closely with Accenture and Microsoft so great exposure for young professionals starting careers.

    Cons

Avanade strongly believes in Microsoft products and that is great however sometimes there are other products that are not widely adopted because they are not Microsoft.
