I work with a couple great visionary engineers. They have breadth and depth of knowledge. They listen and are not out to take advantage of others to further their careers.
Cons
company politics seem to rule and promotes the squeaky wheels.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider weeding out the "loud phony" people who take advantage of the "quiet honest" workers.

technology that helps creativityy and make work fun

Great collaboration opportunities and employees are encouraged to innovate.

Work/Life balance is shifting to a work/work balance in recent years.
Pros
Great place for career advancement and growth. They are open to any and all ideas. They promote teamwork and innovation
Cons
Currently not traded as a public company. Not as many people know the Avaya name vs Cisco.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work. Position against Microsoft and Cisco and stay focused on innovation and what the customer and what they need.
Pros
It is a big company, sometimes you may need that experience but if that is not the case, have in mind that if you are not sales you are representing a cost.
Cons
After Nortel acquisition it is a nightmare and the company is going down, everybody that I know of is looking for a job but they do not declare that openly...
Advice to Senior Management
You have a serious work to motivate the US team. Everyone keeps their chin down and no one feel that the non sales jobs receive attention.
Pros
New products, when you get the training.
Pay and benefits.
Fellow US employees
Customers
Cons
Funny how the positive posts are from the outsourced jobs. They transfer their calls back to the US or just close the cases without informing the customer, to meet their numbers. No wonder they enjoy teir work. The customer calls back to the US and we have to deal with the anger and frustration. Training is non existent here at Avaya. They want everything to go overseas. The tools we use or our customers use do not work and yet they keep rolling them out. Great customer service.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the suckups and friends of friends aspect of hiring. They are driving this company into the ground. No one cares here as this company is numbers driven. Bad choice!
