CC business needs more people with the right knowledge, it's obvious between the four of you that some of you have never stepped foot in a contact center a week or two there would be good for you. Strategy is really good but we need the time to deliver so please stop the drive when you don't even know what benefit it gives to a contact center. Listen to the teams and stop being afraid to tell senior execs that occasionally we may change the roadmap

Great opportunity to work with incredible technology. A large number of technically smart folks to work with and learn from. The benefits provided are above par.
Cons
The work and personnel life balance is hard. The job requires a lot of time & dedication. I seem to spend a minimum of 55 hours a week working. I personally do not like to travel. My position requires that I could travel on a moments notice. Not all positions are like this.
Advice to Senior Management
Right now times are tough. They demand and workload they put on one is very difficult. Teams are small due to cut backs. Unfortunately, the outsourcing of work to other countries really cut into the experience that customers are used to & expect.
Pros
The people I work with and first-line supervision. Compensation is great. Offices are OK - no cubicles, just 2 person offices for the working stiffs.
Cons
Always laying off people to meet quartely goals without regard to their talents or what they contribute. They are outsourcing all they can to India regardless if the people in India can do the job or not. They're only looking at people expenses - not value. i.e. they don't consider what they get in return. Cheaper is better and that's it.
Advice to Senior Management
Too bad senior management hasn't learned anything in the 26 years I've been there. Too bad you don't follow what you say either: Examples:
"Now that we're a private company, we will invest for the long term, not try to meet quartely goals." - But you still lay off people every quarter to meet goals.
"We will not lay people off without regard to their contributions. This hasn't served us well in the past." - You lay off the most expensive people - the ones who got good raises because they did a good job. The ones who didn't do as well, the ones who got smaller raises, are the ones that stay.

Take feedback from architects and team leads when making decisions about the product roadmap.

Financial stability -- profitable throughout the downturn, and today.
New products, very cool, in the pipeline.
Willing to make tough choices when the external environment demands it.
Despite that, cares about employees and does the best it can to sustain the best and brightest.

Private ownership.
Leader in the UC and CC communications technology areas.....world class product brains.
Cons
While #1 in our top two markets, those are slow growth industries. Need to make traction in the adjacent spaces where growth is greater. Good news is that is widely understood and work is going on to that end.
Wierd -- Most companies with these pros would be full of folks with confidence, pride, and so forth. At Avaya, the internal meme is more self-critical. In fact the leadership of the firm is working to change this to their credit. Wish more of my co-workers were more "glass half full" than they are.

I have worked with some of the best and brightest people here. There is solid technology base and a loyal customer base.
Cons
The company has a culture of only hiring leadership external to Avaya. The management layer is very heavy with decisions taking forever, and with so much churn in management, the structure is unclear. Firedrills are a daily norm with expectations that you work early, late, and available on vacations. There have been 2 week furloughs for two years in a row that have negatively impacted moral and productivity. The biggest failing is there hasn't been any updated plans that account for people being gone yet still expecting the same productivity.

Look within. There is a tremendous amount of exceptional talent that you overlook, and starting to lose.

Need to evaluate how you are treating your US associate population as you are losing key experience in the business.
