Great for people who get bored easily.

Floor/Assembly Worker (Former Employee)
Meridian, MS

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time for less than a year

ProsNot monotonous. They allow their assembly workers to change workstations and projects at least every couple of days, sometimes several times a day so you don't get bored or sloppy.

ConsFrequent lay offs when business is slow.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease communication and team efforts among shift managers as well as quality of work oversight.

Not so great

IT Director (Former Employee)
Pasadena, CA

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time for more than 10 years

ProsA lot of major challenges working in a global corporation and experience that you won't find in most corporations. The facility has a great location.

ConsLike any large corporation, the company is run for the benefit of upper management. The little folks just get used and then thrown away. There isn't any really commitment to employees, regardless of their contributions or sacrifices.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize the value of those employees that combine experience with a commitment to the corporation. Don't throw them overboard to achieve a short term financial goal.

Another day at Avery

I worked at Avery Dennison

ProsPeople are the overall friendly and care about you in the manufacturing rank. Medical and 401k are both good...dental and eye are okay.

ConsUpper management do engage at the production level to relate to all employee group. Too much political battle and change. Top heavy in director and vp level.

Advice to Senior ManagementTalk to the people that do the job on the floor and get out of your office.

Avery Dennison: Alive and Thriving in a Growth and Transition Period

Human Resources Benefits (Current Employee)

ConsTransition time presents physical and professional challenges during downsizing, reorganizing, restructuring of the corporate office model and environment.

Train wreck

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Pasadena, CA

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time

Pros- Opportunities to travel
- Pretty good benefits and employee engagement activities
- Interesting innovations
- Beautiful headquarters campus
- Flexibility in working arrangements (remote work, etc.)

Cons- There seemed to be reorg-s happening every other month, and everything was just rumors until the announcements hit
- Too hierarchical/top-heavy/title inflation
- Really had to fight for own professional development; unless you were being groomed for a certain role, you were basically ignored

Advice to Senior ManagementPoor strategy has led to many talented folks leaving the company, whether by their own accord or because they didn't fit into the latest organizational model.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
