I worked at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is a market leader in few products which provides good opportunity to grow career. Managers were flexible in terms of work life balance. 401K benefits were good.

    Cons

Limited growth opportunity, especially if one did not negotiate a good starting compensation. Very slow growth trajectory with management providing very little compensation growth annually.

    Advice to Management

Provide people with opportunity and evaluate them on the performance. If the person is able to work at a higher level, then they should be recognized through promotions or job rotations.

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees are talented. Hard working. Pay is average. Great work with community outreach.

    Cons

The leadership team wastes company money traveling around the world for no reason. The company tries to claim they believe in female diversity however the top tier of female leaders (with the exception of one in finance) unless your in their "social click" will do everything in their power to beat you down (especially if your a female) and take credit for your hard work. It's a Corporate political nightmare and their Finance leader should take a good hard look at budgets and the many many layers of VPs in each function.

    Advice to Management

Take time to truly understand how employees feel about their leaders. Don't do this through the leaders again either- of course they will hide the truth.

I worked at Avery Dennison (More than a year)

    Pros

Some good people are at Avery who are very helpful

    Cons

Leadership changes frequently is driven exclusively by numbers each quarter. Very cut-throat environment that has set a culture of individuals making decisions for their own personal gain versus for the better of the company.

    Pros

Good technical talent in some areas that can mass produce high volumes of products for the market.

    Cons

Senior management is mostly poor and consumed by internal politics. The senior team has poorly invested in developing future offerings and is losing business.

    Advice to Management

Change out the management team and get internal IT systems that support rather than burden employees. Bring in outside management talent and don't let the incumbent managers continue to drive this company into the ground.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are not shy about giving you meaningful orojects. They won't send you on wild goose chases. I have really been able to build up my resume while working here.

    Cons

Everything is a rush. Everything is a priority. Yet everything takes months to accomplish.

    Advice to Management

When everything is a priority, nothing is a priority. Focus on a strategy and orchestrate activities according to the outcomes we are looking for.
