    Pros

    Opportunities are abundant. Benefits are good. Coworkers are diverse and overall pleasant. Company focus on personal growth and development. Management encourages employees to strive for advanced positions within the organization.

    Cons

    Business goals and priorities continuously changing. Working on multiple projects that are all top priority. Budget constraints often stalled or cancelled projects in midstream. Leadership turnover rate was high at times.

    Advice to Management

    Management encourages employees to take risks, work outside the comfort zone, and aim for higher goals. The organization should take their own advice. Take a chance and do something big and different. The same procedures and processes will likely yield the same results. Why settle on that? No risk, no reward.

    Pros

    Great place to work. From what I can see they will work with you for promotions. Lots of young people with many in management positions.

    Cons

    Yearly review process is tedious but it is the same at all larger companies. In some ways I think the young people are put in management positions to reduce cost since the years of experience is certainly not there.

    Advice to Management

    Value experience more than the college someone attends.

    Pros

    Hours are light and somewhat flexible. Mangers are barely in the offices so no one is watching. People naturally disappear after 4 or on Fridays. Salaries are not the best in this area but fair.

    Cons

    Constant org changes, upper leadership team doesn't try to connect to the people and understand what really is going on. Uneven distributions for resources. Very limited opportunity for personal growth.

    Advice to Management

    Think through at least a 60-day plan for any changes you make to the organizations. Crisper communication will be appreciated.

    Pros

    Some nice people there, most of which were helpful and cooperative.

    Cons

    Avery is WAY behind in their technology. The ERP for the Americas is over 10 years old and has so many customizations that it can't be upgraded yet they refuse to invest in a new version or alternative. This is impacting their margins and market share. If they historically had not been the dominant player, they would likely be in real trouble.

    You can't keep doing business like you used to.

    Pros

    Ability to work with customers in driving sales

    Cons

    Unresponsive and out of touch upper management philosophy and supervision. Does not look at core products and operations but more on the "fluff". (pretty showrooms and virtual samples)

    Advice to Management

    Go back to basics in producing a good product on time for a fair price. Look at your operations and not show rooms.

    Pros

    Good Global reach with lots of products for their market.

    Cons

    Very long development lead times and very high prices. Little product knowledge and no upper management support .

    Advice to Management

    Instead of trying to be something the company is not (trends and design leaders) focus on Operations and Product quality and price.

    Pros

    You will have a job but there is not much growth taking place as they have lost considerable market share in the PS market.

    Cons

    Very difficult to advance or develop your career unless you are part of the "good ole boys" network or have family in positions of authority in the company. There is a large effort to hire only local talent right out of college in order to keep salaries low. Work/life balance is non-existent if you are in operations. Managers send out emails regularly at 4 and 5 AM. Be prepared to work long hours and Saturdays if you are a Process Engineer or in Maintenance.

    Pros

    The friendships are the best asset of the company.

    Cons

    Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. No promise of promotions. We had to take a cut in raises and yet Upper Management is in Hawaii???

    Advice to Management

    Management is too top heavy. Please review your policies because they will end up causing more problems in the future.
