    Pros

Great people to work with and learn from. Wonderful place for a new college grad to start work after school. Lots of RF and Microwave expertise in the company

    Cons

The company plays in a highly competitive and fragmented microwave back-haul space and is subject to constant price pressure from bigger more vertically integrated suppliers.

    Pros

    good people and good benefits

    Cons

Continued workforce reductions and restructuring of the company led to poor morale. Systems' migrations and integrations were very frustrating and led to long work hours to get work done.

    Pros

The people who are still left there

    Cons

Upper management is terrible, they don't listen, they don't care, they are just running that place into the ground.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourselves and give it up. YOU are the reason that place sucks to work

I have been working at Aviat Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great health care plan, not much else.

    Cons

Years ago when I was a customer, this way a great place to do business with. Now they are totally dysfunctional and the post-Harris upper management does not want to hear it. They have implemented an upgraded Oracle with complex processes that don't work. The only thing holding this company together are the grunts and the old time middle management. Upper management's answer to all of their financial problems are periodic restructuring and layoffs. If they would fix their process issues and the associated waste, they would fix their profitability issues and then maybe give us a raise.

    Advice to Management

The board needs to replace upper management with people that understand hands-on the business they are in.

  7. Great products, but C-Level staff needs to go

I have been working at Aviat Networks full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Market-leading products - New product rollout is now occurring & will hopefully produce a return to profitability. - Most sub-management workers are a dedicated, knowledgeable, hard-working, great group of people. - Company accommodates a flexible work schedule.

    Cons

    - The CEO needs to be replaced by a veteran with a successful track record. His leadership has led to dismal company results and thus no credibility with Wall Street as seen by the companies extremely low market value. Chuck K. has recently been brought back in an unknown role so maybe some big shakeups are being planned. - C level and Board in early 2014 made the foolish and short-sighted decision to layoff the entire Santa Clara design engineering staff and replace them with overseas staff. This decision has also affected the general morale in other departments and resulted in other folks leaving. - C level and Board members need to be replaced. They are extremely overpaid and have a history of bad decisions and constantly reward themselves with free stock regardless of the company's performance. With their free stock options they have no real incentive to improve the company and just continue to sell their stock with no history of ever buying, - There have been no salary increases for the last 5 years (unless you are C level, then the money continues to flow), so be sure and negotiate for the highest possible when hired.

    Advice to Management

    - No salary increases for many years needs to change. The Silicon Valley is a very competitive environment and good employees have and will continue to leave the company. - Stop rewarding yourselves with huge salaries and free stock that you just continue to sell. If you believe in this company, then put your money where your mouth is and buy company stock at its current ridiculously low price!

    Pros

Flexible work environment and overall nice people on staff.

    Cons

The upper management is inconsistent and lack vision, lots of talk about moving forward but not put into practice. The environment is rife with misogyny and management is barely competent. Resources are poorly utilized. No long term growth strategy, mostly runs by the skin of their teeth.

I worked at Aviat Networks full-time

    Pros

    - time-off is limited compared to other companies. - good place to get some experience for RF engineering. - life and work balance is good. - nice building.

    Cons

    - perks are almost NONE. -no formal process is used in any aspect of products planning, product design, and communicating information to employees,..etc. -Leadership brought this company to a bad situation.

    Advice to Management

change your policies or resign! Need to foster true innovation and improve time product introduction. resources put on testing and manufacturing are much higher than design and planning.

    Pros

Very collaborative workforce, everyone works hard together, good teamwork, and great ideas.

    Cons

Extremely poor leadership, lack of communication, poor management decisions despite input from workforce, management are too far removed from day to day operations to make sound decisions. Poor work/life balance, poor compensation, no room for advancement, stock grant (bonus) was worth next to nothing.

    Advice to Management

Get good leaders that know how to manage and motivate people, and can create a more cohesive workforce across all departments.
