I have been working at Avis Budget Group part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Avis Budget is a good company to work for, they treat employees with respect. Are always having employee appreciation meals. Make you feel like you mean something to them, not just another number. Get to drive cars like the Camaro SS and trucks like the Ford F-150! And even the BMW 528i!

    Cons

None really, other than busy Houston traffic and long hours driving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seem to be doing a good job, keep it up!

    Pros

The only pro is that they pay ok compared to other companies

    Cons

Managers don't manage. Enough said., people who have seniority take advantage of new people, it's hot they don't provide water. The whole system of operations is to benefit only the people with seniority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many people quit or find other jobs because the people who have been there many years expect you to do everything and they take advantage of you. And managers don't do anything about it.

    Pros

Company car, free gas, interacting with lots of people daily.

    Cons

Long hours, always running, little room for advancement. You won't see your family! But, that is probably a matter of the city your work in. Houston churns managers and few stay. If you do, you get used to it, and love your coworkers, because they will be the only 'family' you see.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your managers as you do your rental sales agents! We train and coach them to make thousands of dollars in commissions, which we never see any of ( rather a tenth of annually).

I have been working at Avis Budget Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Managers are laid back don't get involved in associates confrontations.

    Cons

Co worker's enjoy he say she say and small talk. Pay is not enough to put up with frustration. Old women been there for 25+ years they love to make people unhappy. Hobby location is so messy everyday its a new situation. The senior employees run new people away and corporate is trying to figure out why the turn over rate is thru the roof. Union guidelines don't make any sense you are forced to work others schedule if u have no seniority which include graveyard with very little notice even on your off days. Feels like company don't care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of old gossiping ladies who are unhappy with themselves change union rules to benefit entire operation. Increase base pay because hobby isn't making as much as bush but doing 3x the amount of work.

    Pros

Great way to learn Sales 101
    Great way to network

    Cons

    Poor pay

Every store managed differently (No uniformity...except the fact that all locations rent cars)

    Washing cars in extreme weather

If your home store is not doing well you will have to try to find work at other locations around town...not a lot of sense of security

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more uniformity and more solidarity so employees won't have to worry about where to get their next check if their numbers are low.

    Pros

Best place to learn and develop management style. And I mean it. Everything you learn there is applicable to each industry and is more than you can bargain for.

    Cons

Even with great time management skill, you will work a minimum of 60 Hours a week. If you are single it will increase your chance of promotion and later you will be working less. If you do not plan on focusing on anything but career for the next 7-10 years best environment to work.
