I have been working at Avnet

    Pros

Benefits are not bad and they offer at times good prices for local events.

    Cons

Pay is to low and the raises are a joke. Unless you are the head of the company you won't make much and advancement is only given to family members or head people which is very unfair and not based on experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the employees better and raise the pay and raises given out to people who actually deserve it.

I worked at Avnet as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked closely with a group of coworkers to make the ordering process as fast as possible, often conferring with 2-5 people to make sure everything was clear. I also enjoyed the breaks, and lunches we recieved during big month ends.

    Cons

We went through a new policy or workplace change every month. One month we filed documents in data source A, the next month we needed to file in Data source C and send copies to both A and B whilst simultaneously taking on more accounts which we have no information on. Then we get written up if we don't follow through. We also have incentives to go above and beyond, however, if you're a contractor, or recently hired employee, you will not qualify despite the work you put in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take into account the people who work towards the same goal as your "actual" employees, because when they work just as hard, see everyone get a reward, and themselves be relegated to a dark corner of the office to stew over what they should have received, its insulting.

I have been working at Avnet full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good, the people I work with are awesome, and some of the bosses are pretty nice as well.

    Cons

You have to be careful about expressing your opinion. One negative comment and you are headed out the door. So you have to keep your mouth shut and take whatever is dished out. They also move jobs from the US to China so they can keep the cost down. They have no loyalty to the US people that have kept them going all this time. They just care about lining their pockets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of buying up new businesses, then falling short on your financials and laying off the little guy, show a little loyalty. Instead of buying and handing out little trinkets, put it in a bonus. Or at least give the employees a choice.
Care about the US employees that have lost their homes because you moved their jobs out of the country to pay less.
    Show a little compassion!!
