    You make your opportunity

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsLots of learning opportunities and development resources if you are proactive enough to take advantage of them - they will not be handed to you. Industry leading solution provider.

    ConsFront-line and middle management have stagnated in the same positions in the same departments for far too long and have become complacent and ineffective negatively impacting the overall morale of those areas of the organization.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Seemingly solid company to work for; however, seemingly constant layoffs quarterly.

    Project Manager (Former Employee) Tempe, AZ

    Pros* Decent pay
    * Decent benefits
    * Nice people
    * AZ Based corporation & seemingly global company

    Cons* Seemingly constant layoffs each quarter
    * Built through acquisitions, so many things run differently
    * Highly political environment
    * Not really a global company. Corp structure very silo.
    * Have/Have not environment (office/cube)

    Advice to Senior ManagementUse more strategic planning on targets. Quit using headcount as a way to make numbers better. Hold management responsible for misses instead of transferring them to another group.

    great company

    Electronic Technician (Current Employee) Groveport, OH

    ProsHelpful people and nice environment to work. peaceful, no stress . great opportunity for college or university graduated students seeking entry level jobs.

    Consno room for advancement. once you get one position you stick in that position forever, pay is not good enough. no raise or may be cents to raise.

    Plenty of room to grow

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsLarge organization offers a variety of career paths. Company invests heavily in employee training and development. Supports the worlds largest technology providers.

    ConsIf you end up with the wrong manager, there are pockets of disfunction where brownnosing is more rewarded than results.

    Advice to Senior ManagementStop the boys club, stop rewarding brownnosing behavior or promoting those who kiss up to management versus deliver results.

    Great Self Promoters

    BDM (Current Employee) Denver, CO

    ProsProfessional run business. Ability to use balance sheet to acquire revenues.

    ConsMiddle Management is 100% about self promotion and does little to structurally improve the business. Workers are treated as that - with little autonomy and ability to effect change.

    The good, the bad, and the ugly.

    Project Manager (Current Employee) Tempe, AZ

    ProsAvnet is a leader in data center distribution. It's a local AZ company, with corporate in Phoenix. There are a lot talented people that work very hard. Pay is decent. Benefits are ok (better than some).

    Cons1. A land of kingdom and kings (or queens) - the communication and cooperation across these silos is GREATLY lacking. Strategic & informed communication ACROSS the silos is not in place, so the rumor mill kicks in..
    2. Level of bureaucracy (somewhat related to the above). So many layers, teams, managers, Directors, VPs, etc. that it takes forever to accomplish things. This generates a lot of "that isn't my job" discussions.
    3. Wish that there was a benefits choice other than Cigna.

    Advice to Senior ManagementLead by Example! There seem to be a lot of solid people in place, but the level of bureaucracy and the "kingdoms" get in the way of supporting the customers. Be more open and strategic about the reorganizations, as the rumor mill is KILLER to morale!.
