I worked at Avon Products full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company for Women has the right vision and a great business model. While salary is competitive, the total compensation is good. Top performers in sales can earn a lot.

    Cons

Avon has become irrelevant in the US market and struggles internationally. The Bribery problem is an expensive distraction. The cross-channel conflict between web sales and independent representative continues to erode the relationship.

    Advice to Management

Use MARK. to reach the market and create a meaningful and relevant earnings opportunity. Realign the Representative Leadership model to really support product sales. Drive collectable sales and stop discounting everything and devaluing the brand.

    Pros

social, growth rate well, commission, good values, good product, large network of people, promotion of strength and integrity, kindness toward eachother, great management.

    Cons

profit was difficult, highly competitive, low pay rate, a lot of strategic ways to do things so less free thinking, wages, pyramid schemes.

    Advice to Management

come up with more ideas on how to promote personal growth in company. Have more meetings and communications and incentive for sales representatives to move up the ladder and promote company.

    Pros

Lax work environment, one of the best package testing labs in the industry, friendly coworkers, ability to see your work directly influence the progress of the company, international networking with the different branches of the company.

    Cons

The focus of the higher-ups seems to be more on putting out new products and finding new customers rather than customer retention. The packaging engineering department is the company's last line of defense when it comes to shipping quality products and having them arrive to the customer in pristine condition, but sometimes it seems that we are overlooked and the departments making new products to sell are more favored.

    Pros

Avon has a Decent benefits package, and has friendly co-workers. Avon also encourages more training and has various job opportunities, and offers the ability to receive some management experience.

    Cons

The stability of the company is always in question. Numerous layoffs for several years running, and increasing healthcare costs lead to a more stressful work environment.

    Advice to Management

The management needs to be more transparent, especially in an unstable work environment. There are many rumors that circulate, and being able to address rumors, instead of allowing them to fester, would probably be a good practice.

I worked at Avon Products full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, fun perks, great incentives, company car and gas card, benefit package, it's a kind of job where you put your creativity to work and pull in results. The best part is you are given enough trust to execute your ideas and work with your team however you feel fit.

    Cons

Although your schedule is flexible they turn into long hours and days, the 2 week turnaround for results is too short when your numbers are high. budget is very limited the company wants you to get volunteers to do inhouse work which isn't really fair, who likes to work for free? Many times you were given unrealistic goals to achieve and if you did achieve it then you need to do more

    Advice to Management

Make your employees feel worthy, set goals that are achievable and realistic. Threats of losing your job won't bring the numbers in but inspiring and mentoring will because people will work with pleasure not fear or stress. Stop changing things before you give them a chance to work results take time. Your projections in paper are nice but being in the field is a different story

    Pros

Despite restructuring and downsizing, the company it's a good place to work. Granted there is no company that takes care of employees whole heartedly, but Avon promotes professional growth in employees more than some other companies.

    Cons

Company had been going thru restructuring and is in a shaky ground lately.
