Pros – The culture at Avon R&D is one that really inspires personal and professional growth.
You are coupled with a mentor that will help you to overcome challenges and navigate the large corporate environment.
all management fosters a true R&D environment of trying and learning. Failure is not punished and it is expected that when trying to do something new and out of the box you are not going to be successful 100% of the time.

Cons – The people here can sometimes take themselves too seriously. We were making makeup not pacemakers.
Marketing and Product Development have a large turnover and are unorganized resulting in late turn overs and rush sloppy projects

Pros – Woman friendly organization. If you perform well, they really acknowledge and take care of you. Being a Global company there is opportunity to work with people from all over the world. It is a diverse and fun environment to work in.

Cons – Expensive location. Very difficult to find a good home considering cost. The office is located in upstate NY and the cost of living is pretty high. Day cares and house rents are expensive. This is not a "Con" of the company per se, but just an issue with the location of the office.

Advice to Senior Management – None as of this moment.

Low start up cost
Affordable and well know products.

Cons – Shipping costs cut profit terribly.
Fees are added for late orders
Profit percentages are so low to are eaten up in fees, brochure costs, gasoline to deliver products, taxes, and shipping costs.

Cons – You work off pure commission and it is not a significant amount

Advice to Senior Management – There should be other more productive ways to make more money without recruiting other sales people.

Pros – Great people for the most part. People always seem to be willing to help each other out. Also, most people leave the job at work. Fast development cycle.

Cons – Executive Senior Management in R&D is dicey. Especially in the Product Safety & Integrity group. Downright brutal. I wouldn't work in that group regardless of the salary. No ability to speak your mind in PSI.

Advice to Senior Management – Remove the head of PSI.

Pros – Lots of products, sell on your own time, affordable, hardly any startup cost.

Cons – Prices are going up, especially on jewelry. Make-up can be pricey when not on sale.

Pros – Great to work for a company that also has a good mission... it is the #1 micro lender in the world I think. Many people are down to earth.

Cons – Promotions are rare and usually given to save someone from leaving rather than from merit. Raises and bonuses are non existent since company's financials are so poor. Hours can be bad as there have been lots of layovers and mgmt doesn't make decisions effectively. Company does not encourage change as much as it should.

Advice to Senior Management – One way out of the mess is to start focusing on your people who work for you. Prioritize talent management and career development. Encourage people to speak up, take risks, and reward them for doing so (even if the results are perfect at first.). That will create a more innovative, positive environment.
