I have been working at Avon Products full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, Flexible hours, Company car, gas card.

    Cons

Flexible hours yes, but then you have to make it up some time in the evening or else you fall soooo behind. No chance for advancement. It's a "who you know" kind of company! Work 50-60+ hours a week!
Corporate doesn't listen to the District and Division managers on what is going on in the field. Once again Avon is relying too much on the Ind Leadership Reps to do all the work and yet again it will fall on the DSM laps because Leaders don't do what Avon wants them to do. Division mgrs position is a joke! They only have a meeting with their DSM's once a month and maybe attend a quarterly division rally. All other times they are no where to be found. There's too many chiefs in this company!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying attention to your top sellers. Have more incentives for them. This is a SALES company first then a MLM!

I worked at Avon Products full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Salary is good
You pay a portion of the car lease fee monthly

    Cons

You will work 70+ hours a week
You're expected to motivate unprofessional people
You are expected to do events outside in the winter, to recruit new representatives
There are weekly conference calls with in your division, and your peer managers will hear everything that you did wrong that week
The quality of the recruits, is poor. This causes a loss of staff. And a constant churning of representatives to recruit and train. Then they quit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your seasoned managers with respect
The division sales managers, are brutal
Nothing is ever good enough. Not your numbers, not your sales, not your recruiting numbers, nothing

Former Employee - Independent Sales Representative
Former Employee - Independent Sales Representative

I worked at Avon Products full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Makeup is high quality.
    - Shipping and returns are fast and easy.
    - Customers are loyal to the brand, and once found are easy to hang on to.

    Cons

    - Absolutely no internal support or communication of any kind.
-The amount of money I spent on brochures alone meant not only did I not break even, but I went negative. That was money out of my own personal budget, and I ended up spending a whole lot more than I ever made. In the end, it just wasn't worth it.
-You have to pay Avon twice per order; a portion for the order to ship and the other portion at a later time in the order. Very inefficient pay system that makes absolutely no sense.
    - Leads given to me by my upline were never reliable. I was never able to move up, because her leads were never solid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your priorities straight. The idea should be to help build up new Independent Sales Reps. and not always focus the attention on President's Club members. Please do away with the current payment system, and make sure you are checking up on your leadership within each district. Leadership, as it stands, is causing your whole entire business to implode.

    I worked at Avon Products

    Pros

Very well known Fortune 500 company. Works with high profile celebrities and ambassadors. Beautiful office.

    Cons

The company is going through a lot of management changes and over the past few years, lots of employees have been let go due to budget cuts. As a result, the remaining employees are often overcompensating and creates a very stressful work environment.

Additionally, the downsizing of the company leaves several gaps to fill and no clear sense of direction.
