    Smaller, unstable

ProsThey pay well when times are good. Starting to offer basic incentive programs. You will find that you wear multiple hats.

ConsPlace is somewhat disorganized, accountability isn't easily found, and management is a bit fickle . Hourly employees do not have a clear path upwards in the pay structure- management uses this to their advantage . Basic production tasks are driven to heavily by management who have little experience in the matter- the process becomes several times more difficult and is unnecessarily dragged out.

Inside the doors of Axsys Surveillance - what really goes on

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Nashua, NH

ProsThe products we offer are very exciting and help to protect the men and women in our military as well as law enforcement and fire departments across the country. It's a good feeling knowing we're helping to keep people safe.

ConsThe different departments within the Nashua facilities need to work together as a team to achieve the goals to meet our customer's expectations. There isn't a strong leadership team with regard to upper management. Employees who work hard to promote the best interests of the company are not recognized for their efforts and are held back.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice to the upper management team over Axsys Nashua is that they should take a good hard look at requirements for good, solid leadership and determine if their upper management team has what it takes to lead the company. If the employees are unhappy or discouraged and believe they aren't being recognized for work well done then the morale will go down as well as productivity. Axsys should consider hiring human resource personnel who have the experience and know how to balance between management and the employees. Management also needs to give recognition and offer advancement where it is due.

    Axsys in transition

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Nashua, NH

    ProsInteresting products and work assignments

ConsIn process of being acquired by General Dynamics AIS in third quarter of 2009. As a result the "small company" environment at Axsys may disappear.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to maintain pre-acquisition work environment.

    A place for bad days

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsYou have a very good job security in this company. The work pressure is not high. Managers are polite and educated people.

ConsManagers are not good leaders. People don't care about company's future. If you want to work for a leading company axsys is not the place.

Advice to Senior ManagementSometimes you should risk, you should try new methods. you will lose the competition if you don't invest in new processes and products. Current processes are good for a small company not for you!
