Always interesting work, but sometimes just not enough time to do it

I have been working at Azimuth full-time

    Pros

Working on advanced wireless test equipment Flexible work hours Interesting work for .Net, embedded and DSP, and for hardware/FPGA engineers If you have vision for a solution, you will be probably free to implement it Few layers of management

    Cons

The market is small and goes through cycles. Azimuth has had several rounds of layoffs over the years. Still struggling to expand into new product areas, so far without much success. Creative people are worn down from development deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Go deep and long-term on expertise in the technology. Seems that thinking is just too short-termed - geared directly to sales needs. Need to develop a permanent comptetentcy.

  2. Helpful (1)

Solid company, but very cyclical business

I worked at Azimuth full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, interesting product and technology. While the pay and vacation is average, the health and dental plans are first-rate.

    Cons

Lots of initiatives that take away from core business. The overall market is not booming like it was, but the company acts like it is.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the market, not what the executive team wishes they were saying. Listen to the high-performers inside the company. Producing PowerPoint presentations does not make you a high-performer
