    Azizia Panda Pros & Cons

Current Employee - Retail Senior Store Manager in Abha (Saudi Arabia)
Current Employee - Retail Senior Store Manager in Abha (Saudi Arabia)

I have been working at Azizia Panda full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

1-Panda is people oriented and customers oriented
1st I will like to talk about how panda is interested to develop and improve the manpower thru the trainings and seminars , for me as example I join panda 10 years before with zero experience in the food retail but panda built me and gave me the experience , and that the way panda follow with each ambitious employee
2nd panda is customer oriented, thru the big effort preoccupation to ensure the customers satisfaction and to enhance the customer's loyalty to the organization
1-The interest to solve the queuing and ensure smooth checkout and to reduce the customer turnaround time.
2-Customer care phone line 24/7 to receive the customer complaints
3-Very strong system to ensure the food safety and hygiene
4-Expand the range for the customers
5-Good quality and competitive private label
6-Sharing the charity activities and being sponsor
7-The big role which panda playing in the saudization as part of the Saudi community feels the social impulse.

    Cons

1-They have to focus more on improving the communication specially the communication from bottom to the top.
2-They have to review for the manpower budgeting policies in order to ensure highest level of customer service to enhance the company image.
3-Review the pricing policy as the most of the complaints we received against the high prices , so , that is the time to change the pricing policy from (cost plus) to (competitive price)
4-The top management should take steps to reduce centralization and giving some authorities to the outlets management in order to build decision makers and give chance the creativity.
5-The top management should take quick action to minimize the office jobs time, which highly impact the stores standard and impact the company image accordingly.
6-The discrimination in the last view years may kill the company future.

    Advice to Management

YOU SHOULD LOOK DEEPLY INTO THE ABOVE POINTS AND FIX SOON IN ORDER NOT TO KILL THE COMPANY FUTURE

    Pros

    As any company,
    - Working in core business, you "might" have opportunity to grow.
    - Its good for new graduates as they can build some of their skills there if he/she got the chance to do so.
    - If you have good relations, connections, good in playing politics and chose the winning horse from the senior management to stick under his umbrella .. you will be secured, supported and even if it doesn't make sense.

    Cons

    Based on facts:

1- No clear job responsibilities and description to work based on them. They might provided but you cannot work based on them.

2- You'll receive many of encouraging words to over achieve and do your best .. Words like "Dear champions, you will make the history, dear warriors" but when it comes to performance evaluation and bonus, [Unethically] only the selected people with good connections and relations with his director or executives will have the majority of the bonus pie.

    3- No job security.
4- Lack of transparency between manager and his team members.
5- The company 5 pillars are suspended and not really implemented or followed, especially by the [Business Leading Team] dept.

6- Focus on fighting or working for politics more than doing the real job.

7- HR business partners [For each business function] are:
       * Just tools for senior management to apply what they want even if what they want was unethical, against company strategic 5 pillars and against employees.
       * Employee needs to be ready, keep all evidences and not leave any human mistake, otherwise they will be utilized against employee to fulfill one of the managers orders.
       * HR business partners focus on what the management needs and don't care what employees might need or suffer from [The proof for this is that they don't meet with employee unless there is something against him/her]

8- Even if the line manager was unethical, very aggressive, and everyone are complaining from attitude and there were indicators and proves for these actions.. As long as the manager is supported by his manager/director/executive .. the normal employee might get terminated and that manager problems will be covered.

[The prove for point 7 and 8 can be found in supply chain management and Riyadh DC management]

    Advice to Management

    - Activate company 5 pillars [Ethics, Transparency, Amana, ..etc.].
    - Be more ethical and protect the victim (employee) rights, not the manager.
    - Distributing bonus fairly by appreciating your employees [Real soldiers] and real achievers and not distributing it on the management, then give the remaining to the employees.
    - HR business partners should work for management and employee, not management desires only.
    - Making more revenue and profits aren't the only important thing, as what the mother group chairman/management said. It will make the company looks better, but People (Employees) are important too as they are the ones who enabled you to meet business targets and you're one of them.
