I have been working at B. Braun Medical full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Its a good place if you are looking to retire and not change, baby-boomer friendly. Decent benefits. Off the production floor there are good people trying to make a difference and working to steer the company towards a better position in the market. The FDA hasn't shut us down like our competition. The staff is almost to the tipping point were the old are being out numbered by the new.

    Cons

483's from the FDA... lots of them. High turn-over in departments that are crucial for driving continuous improvement. Old products that are poorly designed, assembled on equipment that is falling apart by a work force that is over 20% temporary workers that make a little bit more than McDonalds. Leadership that has to higher outside firms to drive change and develop leadership. A strong-willed work force that doesn't care about change. Uneducated lower to middle management. A CEO that pushes political agendas through company emails, vote against this or for that... contact your local rep via this link...

    Advice to Management

Invest in an alternate manufacturing site. Develop new products Purchase well built and vetted assembly equipment. AUTOMATE, get away highly manual manufacturing environment and from a temporary work force that not committed to the level of quality your customers expect. Constancy of purpose. Implement leadership from within.

I have been working at B. Braun Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

B Braun Medical is an overall decent company to work for. The salary is average for the area. The on-site cafeteria is a nice benefit. Opportunity to learn how many departments work.

    Cons

Minimal training provided. Company continues to squeeze employees for benefits every year. Working spouse surcharge on benefits is very costly.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to invest in your employees. You would get more from employees if they had more of a work/life balance.

I worked at B. Braun Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I can't really think of any pros. It's an environment promoting laziness and lack of accountability. So if you are good at doing the bare minimum and the blame game. it's a good place for management.

    Cons

Lack of upward mobility. Management has no good work ethics. Not a safe work place for female employees. Overall, it's not a good company to work for.

    Advice to Management

Sexual harassment training. Accountability training. Stop playing favorites. Focus working on the right priorities. Listening to employees. Enforce high standards of work ethics.

    Pros

Hands on experience on some of the most cutting equipment. Great DCS systems.

    Cons

Little to no formal training available to operators. 6 - 7 day a week work schedule.

    Advice to Management

Consider training operators more than just supplying SOP's.

I worked at B. Braun Medical (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great hours of operation but you don't stop working if you are a salary employee. 40=52

    Cons

Worst place to work ever! The pharmacists are all lazy and spoiled. They all let you know of their entitlement. The techs are stupid and don't care to listen. The management is pathetic with discrimination rampant.

    Advice to Management

    Hire all new pharmacists

    I worked at B. Braun Medical full-time

    Pros

Solid health care plans. Some increased signs of recognition. Some good people who genuinely care.

    Cons

Constant change in cultural principles has led improvements like Oz Accountability to be viewed as flavor of the month; Oz is only used in convenience Hostile environment at multiple facets (within departments and with other departments) Preaching culture change, yet default to "that's just the way things are done" at all levels. Lack of staff development (technical skills and succession planning) Development plans are less development and more level of expectations. The systems that are in place for lean aren't properly utilized or maintained. Managers are more concerned about people gaming the system, yet people (lower management and below) are forced to work in conditions that promote a poor work/life balance

    Advice to Management

It was sad that at a leadership meeting, when asked what the company's most valuable asset was, no one said "people". The trainer revealed that the answer was in fact "people". Set realistic company goals. Some are actually realistic, while others are shooting for the moon. Need to conceptualize whats achievable and whats stretch. Develop your people! They want to be developed. And if they don't you should work on There is a lot of opportunity to improve, but you need to be able to stick with change. I fear that the continual reverting to status quo by leadership has caused a majority of technicians and operators to not believe in changes and merely act.
