    Pros

Great career opportunities for those who want it and are prepared to work. Benefits are good with generous discount and bonus incentives based on performance. The culture is professional yet relaxed and driven yet fun

    Cons

It's retail so be prepared to work hours when required however compared with other retailers B&Q value home life well. Head Office is in Southampton and so there are limited 'out of store' progression opportunities.

    Pros

well paid, 20 % staff discount, bonuses available for management. lots of opportunities for cross functional movement, some great people but increasingly looking for short term contract project support leading to poor quality delivery. company seeks to become a multi channel retailer but is hampered by slow development and legacy systems

    Cons

very political store support office subject to regular organisational redesign and highly insulated from stores

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing IT and utilise internal experience more efficiently on major infrastructure projects

    I worked at B&Q full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great and relaxed atmosphere at the head office. Fantastic people and management making sure the business stays ahead of competition. Loads of opportunities to master new skills, be it strictly job related or interpersonal. Also career progression possible for good performers. Performance reviews are regular and well structured and actually do take place as it is monitored and encouraged by HR. One of the top employers to work for in the UK..

    Cons

IT systems in need of a serious update.
Location (albeit the new offices are stunning and the facilities are great so it can be easily forgotten while you're inside that you're based in the ever so boring part of Eastleigh)

    Advice to Management

Less of constant change and a bit of continuity would make our lives much easier.
