I have been working at B&R Industrial Automation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Extremely innovative company. Software engineering is incredible. The hardware is totally scaleable. Employees are highly competent with advanced automation technologies. HQ are extremely supportive and fun to work with. They have a vision and know exactly where they are going. The employees are tremendous fun to work with. B&R have a real team environment. Great compensation tied to team and individual performance. The best learning environment I've ever worked in! Zero micro management and no politics.

    Cons

NA customers are oblivious to the fact that Rockwell is selling old technology. B&R is so far ahead of Rockwell's technology. Therefore you must be patient to help customers learn benefits. Don't give up attitude is a must. This is not a country club. Go work at Rockwell if that's what your looking for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to support your employees develop. There is zero politics at B&R, don't let this change. Continue to invest in growing your global presence. Your HR process and training is great. Continue to augment the HR and Training tools.

I have been working at B&R Industrial Automation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

B&R in North America has a fantastic training process for new engineering graduates, which includes over 12 weeks of hands on skill building. After this engineering boot camp, you're prepared to tackle a lot of applications by yourself. There is a good mix of experienced and newer engineers, but there is a generally young and ambitious corporate culture. The products are really great - they have good hardware that is all centrally made in one location in Austria, so quality is high.

    Cons

This is still a small company, so some growth opportunities are a little hard to come by. I think in the next few years this will only get better.

You get to work in a really good team environment and also have the possibility to pursue projects very freely.

I have been working at B&R Industrial Automation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

One of the best teams I worked with so far. Everybody is very helpful and there is a wonderful atmosphere of helping each other out. The projects increase in complexity gradually, but you are never hidden away somewhere and you get to know a lot about the industry and the customers you work with. You can also switch within the company between different areas if you want too, and the in-house training is very good.

    Cons

There is a distance between managment and "normal staff". This distance makes it difficult to convey future ideas and prospects. Because of a very flat hierarchy, career advancment is a no-go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The internal communication is still very lax, for example, an Intranet is missing. This would bring the company closer together, and enable more people to tend to the workplace as an extension of their private life. It would increase work-life balance and also the general spirit.
