I worked at B2B Bank as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

They honestly take care of their staff, as a contract worker they had a lot of functions for staff. Training for programs and new hires were fairly decent and their compensation seems fair. But as the title states, good company to get your foot in the door with.

    Cons

As a contract worker I really worked hard to stay with the company for 2 years, and sadly let go because of a business decision... Knowing a few months letter the majority of my team got full time employment, quite sad. I find the culture of the office was more in your favour not based on what you knew, but more to who you knew, quite quite sad.

    I worked at B2B Bank

    Pros

The people are great and location as well.

    Cons

Too many at upper management level pretending they know what they're doing, lack professionalism, structure but most importantly, lack respect for the employees' rights. Stop working people to the bone. Focus on retention and making your employees happy. Once done, B2B will truly prosper on all levels. Get rid of the amateurs and higher C-level managers with a wide range of experience; they can bring A LOT more to the table. And the "You're Awesome" slogan got old the moment they thought it was "Ok" to hang on the walls. Quite frankly it lacks creativity. What makes them awesome? Show staff, tell staff. Make them awesome!

    Cons

bad pay culture isn't great. Find your own good people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

choices: cheap labour and poor quality and high turnover, or decent pay with benefits that attracts talents and maintain morale.

I have been working at B2B Bank full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

If you have friends in high places, then you are golden. A lot of your success in this company depends on who you know.

    Cons

As mentioned above - you are rewarded based on who you know. I've seen people who did an average job and got rated superior because the managers liked them. The pay is below average and the corporate culture sucks. There is more gossip in this organization than any other I have worked at. There is no clear direction for this company...one day they follow one path and the next the rules seems to change. Lots of shortcuts taken and someone always takes the fall when mistakes are discovered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Increase pay, hire competent managers.

I have been working at B2B Bank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to grow if you have the right attitude and skills. Great place to start a career and stay if you like the people.

    Cons

Salary not as competitive when compared to other banks. Even internally individuals with same skill set and position get paid different.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If salary cannot be matched with competitions, at least match salaries within the organization.

The place is a nightmare to work at. Lot of politics. They are always hiring because they can't hold on to good people

I have been working at B2B Bank full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Convenient to the train station

    Cons

Open concept, call centre type work environment throughout the whole organization. No privacy at all, including for managers. The work environment is not for everyone, unless you like to mind other peoples' business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give all your people managers closed offices quickly. This would improve morale and respect for all parties. Employees need privacy when they wish to speak to their manager, and don't need to be ushered into a meeting room each time, while the whole floor looks at them and starts talking. Employees do not like managers sitting there watching and listening to them all day. It is very uncomfortable for all parties involved.

I have been working at B2B Bank full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you work overtime they give you some greasy dinner (pizza).

    Cons

The biggest challenge in this organization is that the management is not very forward thinking. There is no work life balance, mandatory overtime, poor pay for performance, minimal benefits and a very cut throat corporate culture. I would not recommend this as a place to grow your career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Investment Lending management team has to go soon. The current management does not have the best interests of the clients/employees in mind and is only looking out for their own interest.

    Pros

People are generally willing to support you if they know.

    Cons

They are stuck to very old ways of banking. There are too many technology out there for the bank to stay at the level they are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your staff more. People are not happy.

I have been working at B2B Bank as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

They tend to hire mostly contract with no benefits, but once in a while they have employee events which are nice.

    Cons

The pay is very low. My friends who do the same job at competing firms get paid more than I do. The work environment is political. If you know someone high up you get treated differently. If you dont have any friends you basically end up doing all the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase salaries and stop hiring only contract. Get rid of the political culture of the company, it doesnt motivate people to work - only spend time gossiping.

I have been working at B2B Bank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you know the right people, you can grow without much experience. Lots of politics here.

    Cons

As mentioned in the pros, there are a lot of incompetent people higher up who got there because of who they knew. Very poor leadership skill and almost no respect for people that actually do the work and make the company profitable. There is always rearrangement going on in the company showing a lack of consistency or proper planning. Most of the changes are implemented without any consensus building and made to look like a lot of thought had gone into it. However, these changes are inevitable reversed a few months later when things break down. Lots of turnover and salaries are not competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The problem lies with the upper management team which creates a very poor work environment. They have to go in order for this company to succeed.
