Pros
Great people, cutting-edge technology and exceptional products. Exposure to Government to Government relationships and procurement decisions, ability to travel and live overseas, opportunity to network at senior levels, well recognised brand
Cons
Lower than average pay, difficult to move up through organisation quickly, pockets of poor behaviour that are not appropriately addressed (ie personal agendas)
Advice to Senior Management
More structured career progression and better nurturing and financial reward for high potential employees. Streamline processes and actively seek to win business rather than trying to do the minimum to get by
Pros
Work life balance benefits including flexi time
Opportunities to develop and progress
The opportunity to work globally
Cons
Very large organisation - difficult to make an impact
Slow decision making process
Pros
As a small subsidiary of a very large corporate a great opportunity to work in a "small" environment with the benefits of a large company
Cons
Being part of a large company can really slow things down and make it difficult for a small company to respond quickly to changing market conditions.
Advice to Senior Management
stay hungry; stop thinking about doing and just do it; the "i" doesn't have to be dotted and the "t" crossed for everyone to understand and move forward
Pros
A very friendly and supportive working environment
Cons
Virtually no budget for formal promotions. The company were only too happy to "reward" good performance with extra roles and responsibilities, however associated pay and grade rises were rarely forthcoming.
Advice to Senior Management
Sort out the company's attitude to FINANCIAL reward and recognition or you will continue to lose your best talent who have no option but to leave.
Pros
Good pay and pension, holidays flexible working with some some very motivational staff which I really enjoyed working with. A good starting place for a career
Cons
Political bullying culture is still evident. Process over common sense Health & Safety made. Bureaucracy gone mad underpinned by unnecessarily complex processes which results in process being adhered to but little of value delivered.
Advice to Senior Management
Engage with all your staff, stop swearing and shouting be act like a senior manager and not a night club bouncer! Have a plan which is credible and that you can deliver - accept that you just might be wrong for once!
Also accept that luckily not everyone is like you and that other people have knowledge and good ideas too.
Pros
Money, flexibility, easy environment, close to gym facilities
Cons
Location is too far away from CBD, but close to a small shopping centre
Advice to Senior Management
Stop sacking people
Pros
Very good and Flexible working hours
Cons
Low pay, low development, low motivation
Advice to Senior Management
Need to value stress staff more
Pros
The projects can be interesting and varied, the pay is good for the sector and for the location. Good if you want an easy life.
Cons
Very limited recognition for good work. No feedback from line manager. Highly unionised, bonuses are determined by unions and not by personal performance.
Advice to Senior Management
You have good people working for you who want the projects to succeed. Recognise the hard work and commitment of those people if you want to keep them! Also, shed the dead weight!
Pros
Secure work, good employee benefits
Cons
Bureaucratic, top heavy, political, severely lacks diversity
Advice to Senior Management
Significantly reduce bureaucracy and senior management - empower all staff to make decisions not only a small population - Move into the 21st century
Pros
Global Opportunities are available is that's what yoru looking for.
Cons
There is an Old Boys Club mentality
