Advice to Senior Management
more opportunities for those that are working at your company.
Pros
Good benefits
Decent salary
Flexible work schedule
Good management support
Cons
Frequent lay-offs
Upper management does not seem to look at the big picture, just $$
Not enough business right now to support maintaining current staffing
Advice to Senior Management
You cannot fix what is broken overnight, when it took years to get in the condition it is in. When positive progress is being made, it really hurts morale to see people losing their jobs to save some overhead dollars.
Pros
Wide variety of industry service opportunities.
Cons
Very lasrge orgnization. Too easy to be lost in the size of operations.
Advice to Senior Management
The staff and the knowlege they bring to the table are onee of the company's most valuable assets. Support and encourgae growth and continuing education.
Pros
SCA pay levels
Decent leave time
Excellent locations
Government controls in contracts set employee compensation. This enables the employees to get a fair deal and is out of BAE control
Cons
There is no room for professional growth; many employees are "topped" out. There is no more room for them to advance unless they manage to become one of the sacred cows.
The amount of office politics and lies that occur from management alone is a reminder of the behavior expected from high school drama queens and not the professionals they are paid to be.
Management does not communicate with its people and when they do they aren't listening.
Allot of "catch phrase" usage in the language used by management across the board.
Maybe other locations are better, but the Maryland locations are nothing more than a "Good Ole Boys" club and should be avoided at all costs.
If you are unlucky enough to find yourself laid off by them you can count on your name being black listed within BAE and anyone who calls upon them for reference.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees
Provide them with the proper tools for the job.
stop playing games and stop the lies
Pros
The technical / programmatic challenges are very interesting and serving the war fighters is certainly a noble cause.
Cons
Unless you're a recent hire and participating in one of the "Leadership Development Programs" the company lacks career growth opportunities and a sincere approach to career development for seasoned employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Create incentives for grey beards to retire and open up some career growth and promotional opportunities for motivated employees with fresh ideas.
Pros
Benefits are always a good reason to work at a company.
Cons
Intercompany Politics
Change in culture
Recent change in health plan has definitely been an issue
Pros
Fringe benefits are good, e.g, every other Friday off is hard to beat for someone with a family
Cons
Labor accounting impedes innovation - typical of defense contractor company
Pros
Good benefits and pay is above average.
Cons
Limited growth outside large cities
Advice to Senior Management
limited communication with senior leaders at remote sites.
Pros
Real connection with the end customer, the military. Working at BAE Systems you get to work on some of the most advanced military technology that exists in the world. Overall there usually is a good environment to work in, mangement is easy to get along with and generally communicates very well. Overall its a great place to work, with lots of great people.
Cons
Alot of management layers between you and the top. Its a big corporation so its harder to seek and achieve change quietly. You must be able to communicate with middle management often, directly and speak your mind. The squeaky wheel gets the grease in BAE Systems.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication is the key to success for any great business, keep on giving employees the most amount of benefits, praise and opportunies to suceed in great roles.
Pros
Good motto, big company, structured processes
Cons
Communication issues and growth opportunities
