I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The plant here is filled with experienced individuals who are happy to share their wealth of knowledge. Everyone also seems to understand the importance of a good work-life balance.

    Cons

The large company structure and trying following all of the standards which exist can be intimidating. It also seems that technical roles are rewarded at a slower pace when compared with the business roles in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on training your employees well and make sure to invest more in the mid-level technical roles.

I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

BASF makes money by being a very efficient manufacturer of commodity chemicals. It is attempting to improve performance it is attempting to reinvent itself as a specialty chemical company to extract greater value.

    Cons

Being part of this transformation is exciting and at the same time very frustrating as many working for BASF have skills sets useful to a commodity focused business. These individuals struggle to contribute in a meaningful way to the new value oriented business model.

    Pros

Nice bragging rights to say you are working at the largest chemical company in the world.

The company is is very strong financially.

If you take initiative you can deal with other parts of the world.

    Cons

Forget about a career unless you are German. The current trend is the promotion of German females. The nest best thing is an American with a German last name.

The Company is totally inflexible in every regard and this extends even to customer engagements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cannot run the Company today based old principles from the 1950's.

Trouble is ahead unless change is made.
