    Pros

Good work/life balance, very talented coworkers. Good benefits. Great networking opportunities. Many opportunities to gain various skills, from research in chemistry to sales to management.

    Cons

Somewhat difficult to gain diverse experience when working in a smaller office. Lack of work in the field or in a plant environment.

    Advice to Management

Be open to people with different backgrounds. Sometimes the best person for the job doesn't have the exact education and training you are looking for. Try interview methods other than STAR.

    Pros

It's a company that helps and motivate you to grow as a person and profecionally. You feel part of something big when you work for a company as BASF.

    Cons

It is a company as any other, when they have to cut on budget they just cut it. If you are a part of that budget your gone.

    Advice to Management

The company is as good as the employees working for it. People, fathers, mothers, families, not just numbers and graphics.

    Pros

BASF is a great company to work for. The work family balance has improved significantly over the years. Also working with such exceptional colleagues, makes the experience even more enjoyable. I hope to have many more years contributing to the success of BASF.

    Cons

A few departments (certainly not all) have a difficult 'team' environment. Making it a more competitive environment than things should be, esp. within a team. True entrepreneurial and collaborative behavior includes absolute teamwork, support, flexibility and work integrity, in my opinion. Statements like "that is not your job" or "make sure you cover yourself", shouldn't ever need to be heard.

    Advice to Management

I read a great quote once... "People do not leave companies, they leave managers." Such a shame with a company as great as BASF.

    Pros

Compensation is fair and benefits are above average.
    Good variable compensation.
    Colleagues are knowledgeable .
Teamwork is the norm at least in the lower ranks.

    Cons

Diversity is more important than competence.
Local HR is good but corporate HR is beyond a problem.
Constant reorganizations have had an increasing demoralizing effect.

    Advice to Management

There is a world outside of Germany.
What works in one region of the world is not always good for another region.

    Pros

There is a Jack's across the street

    Cons

Very political, management won't move out or up so everyone stagnant, HR aloof yet very tyrannical, management mafias operating in silos, no meaningful training, exposure on projects is slim to none, information is in short supply, overworked, too many meetings, worked under fear, a lot of fake kindness, multiple people literally passed away while I was there but HR refused to communicate it so hopefully you randomly heard

    Advice to Management

Sell it all, sinking ship, congratulations as you have managed to encapsulate high school all over again but with the bullet proof glass/barbed wire/picnic tables/flat screen tvs for a nice prison feel
