I worked at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Safety conscious corporation, customer focused, great group of intelligent coworkers!

    Cons

If you are looking for a 9-5 job, this is not the corporation for you. Hours can be demanding, if you work with external customers.

    Advice to Management

In need of more flexible work arrangements - job shares, part-time, flex days

I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Great co-workers. I learn something new everyday. My supervisor is a very good and decent person as well.

    Cons

Certain supervisors are given latitude to bully employees. Despite calling the Corporate Hot Line nothing is ever done to the bully. There is talk of changing the pay structure for Non-Exempt Salaried employees. The word is that it won't be to our advantage. Training sucks as well. Nothing really tangible pertaining to our job just a bunch of brainwashing. The good training is reserved for suck ups.

    Advice to Management

Treat your plant operators better. We are there 24/7, nights, days, weekends and holidays. We're the ones exposed to dangerous chemicals on a daily basis making money for the company. Remember too, we know all the dirty little secrets that certain agencies would love to know. Wyandotte site is ripe for a union.

I worked at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Most co-workers were hard working, diligent and team oriented.

    Cons

Plant leadership makes major negative snap decisions and discipline is not given on an equal basis; older workers are not treated well and it is very obvious. High turnover due to frequent firings and company demands to terminate contract staff. Younger workers were allowed numerous and significant mistakes without a warning and had much time where they weren't required to work, while older workers were severely disciplined for the most minor infractions.

    Advice to Management

Review incident reports and look at how older workers are unequally treated; at some point this will become a legal issue for this management team.
