    Best Bank in Town

    Director (Current Employee)
    Charlotte, NC

ProsAbove average benefits: eg, vacation time, 401k match.
Commitment to doing it the right way.
    Conservative financial positioning.
Largely hands-off approach in management of subsidiaries.

ConsLarge bureaucracy means more red tape.

Advice to Senior ManagementI appreciate senior management's commitment to high levels of integrity, its conservatism and its commitment to personal liberties. While other large bank holding companies are dealing with the after-math of excessive risk-taking, excessive financial leverage and overall poor decision-making throughout their ranks, BB&T steadily plows ahead.

Good pay and some benefits...but that's about it.

    Part Time Teller (Current Employee)
    Ashburn, VA

    ProsHourly rate is good.
    PTO on holidays.
    Vacation days.

ConsResponsibilities aside from the teller line duties.
    Are not considerate of students.
    No time for outside life.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more people so you don't have to work your current employees like dogs.

    Look Elsewhere First!!!!

    Relationship Banker (Former Employee)
    Fort Myers, FL

ProsThe benefits package for health was very cheap per paycheck.
They do train you well for the basics of your job.
Upper management (CEO level) are qualified and handle the current crisis well, so far.

ConsIn Florida the managers very rarely work a 40 hour work week.
Any position under branch leader will be required to do alot of tele-marketing and client calling.
The goals are impossible to meet unless located at the busiest of branches.
They do not want smart and talented employees, rather people who are satisfied and will stay in current position.
The LDP will only accept people who know other high up or who go to Wake Forest(where BB&T donated a ton of money).
The training is designed to say certain lines word for word...which is robotic and out of touch.
Too many cheerleaders for conference calls and not enough real work, usually overstaffed as well.

Advice to Senior ManagementFirst, hold those under you accountable. Many tellers and rb's work hard and really do care, but most managers and up do not work very hard and usually push employees to do their jobs for them, and then steal the credit when the suits come in or ask. Do not state you promote from within when I have seen 4 very smart and qualified individuals in Florida quit and find other jobs at double the pay after being denied promotions and then stepped on by their managers for applying because they well not "yes" men.

    Good place to work

    Teller - Seasonal (Current Employee)
    Fairfax, VA

ProsGenerally good employees, clients are helpful most of the time, it's not a terribly difficult job, easy to understand training, pay is decent

ConsShort staff, too worried about referrals/sales goals for tellers, quality of branch depends on your teller supervisor and sometimes manager

Advice to Senior ManagementRely less on referrals for tellers. It is a part of the business strategy but don't hang tellers out to dry because they missed their goal. It's called banking and not selling for a reason.
