    Pros

They have an awesome stock reward program for employees. Each time you win the teller of the year award you are given stock and a elegant dinner. They have great medical benefits. The District management left a lot to be desired. She would barrel her way into the bank and critize the whole time she was present.

    Cons

The selling is pushed so much y ou feel like a used car salesman. The clients and immediate management was great but BB&T requires the employees to offer products and services to every client that qualifies. This creates a very stressful atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Cut down on the selling if clients are happy they will want services.

    Pros

BB&T offers a comprehensive benefits package. They also recognize the importance of balancing family and careers. In addition they are an equal opportunity employer. In addition BB&T cares about their customers and works very hard to be the Best of the Best with their clients.

    Cons

Inability to hire staff as needed. Uses the wrong guages to determine whether insurance offices are adequately staffed or not.

    Advice to Management

Have more "insurance industry" experienced decision makers. It's difficult having people develop computer programs and procedures for the insurance side when they don't really understand how insurance agencies operate.

    Pros

BB&T offers a comprehensive benefits package. They recognize the importance of balancing family and careers. BB&T is well respected by insurance carriers and therefore has the ability to offer clients coverages and services that a client may not be able to enjoy with other agencies.

    Cons

The inability to adequately staff insurance offices. BB&T has a lot of great ideas on value added services. With added staff it would be easier to provide these services to the clients. Being owned by a bank causes the insurance side to have to comply with rules and regulations that are not necessarily placed on other insurance competitors.

    Advice to Management

Look at the staffing and use a different guage when deciding whether an office needs additional staff or not.

    Pros

vacation time, health insurance, good people to work with.

    Cons

I feel like every company has its downside but you need to take the good with the bad. I'd say maybe the pay is an issue just because of the growing cost of living and I feel like the salary does not keep up. But that can be said for a lot of companies and organizations in the country today.

    Advice to Management

better communication skills, a more open environment to allow discussion for problems, more branch meetings,

BB&T is a value driven organization that follows the paradigm of a traditional conservative bank, for better or worse.

    Pros

BB&T is a values driven organization that manages to hold true to those values and does not stray into nebulous realm of doublespeak or propaganda much, if at all. BB&T is a traditional conservative bank that tends to stick to traditional banking models, which allows it to avoid risky, unproven or volatile components of the banking market. The bank verbally values employees and has programs to reward individuals financially for successful or noteworthy performance. The leadership is strong, smart, thoughtful, and honest. The executive management team, especially Allison and King, are exemplary leaders.

    Cons

BB&T is a traditional conservative bank, which means it falls behind industry in some ways. While the tradition is often a strong point in fiscal decisions, it is a hindrance in technical development and deployment and utilization of technology. In an industry that values the bottom line, efficiency in the workplace should be a primary component of every job and a goal of every department. Too often, the leadership within the bank fails to realize when ideas need reflection and it seems like as a general rule, workplace decisions are often left untouched for extended periods of time, as people are seemingly content to keep doing what they have always been doing. While the adage dictates that we should expect to get what we have always gotten (if we keep doing what we have always been doing), there are always opportunities for improvement, and they are largely unrealized.

    Advice to Management

With a strong fiscal plan in place, focus on ways to optimize efficiency by deploying technology adequately and utilizing the opportunities that burgeoning technology provides. Encourage managers, from the top down, to inspect all processes and work flows to ensure that every decision is founded on the values that otherwise guide the organization to success.

    Pros

BB&T is a conservative company that tries to balance what is best for its customers, employees, shareholders and communities. Because of its conservative nature, BB&T is able to provide better job security than its peers. BB&T also spends more money on employee education and benefits than most other companies.

    Cons

Because of its centralized management, most of the best opportunities are only available in Winston Salem.

    Advice to Management

Senior management is doing a great job navigating the current financial crisis. By sticking to its values, BB&T has not fallen into the traps that other financial institutions have fallen into.

    Pros

Great benefits, co-workers and competitive pay. Depending on your manager and your level of performance, you may be micro-managed, or allowed a bit of freedom to complete your duties. Managers I've worked with have always made an attempt to grant your vacation or make work hours flexible to accommodate your personal life.

    Cons

High level of attrition and, like many other companies today, they are focused dearly on the bottom line - meaning you're expendable. Given the losses we've sustained, much of the work has been pushed onto the already full plates of other teams and groups, even if the tasks are not even remotely related to your job description.

    Advice to Management

Fully fund IT - it's the future of the bank and is one field in which we are deficient compared to our peers. Start being proactive instead of reactive - take a chance every now and then and try to be a leader in technology and new services offered. Develop new campaigns - compared to other peer banks, our advertising and marketing is a joke.
