    Solid leadership at SVP level
Mature strategic sourcing processes and technology
Consultants have an opportunity to make significant cost savings contributions

    Cons

More training and development opportunities should be considered

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in, and leverage Enterprise Spend Management (ESM) Team to identify and implement cost savings opportunities and risk management controls.

    Pros

Great company with solid management and good company culture. The bank is ethical and is very risk averse. Strong training organization.

    Cons

While the benefit package is outstanding, base pay tends to be on the lower side of industry. Very conservative work environment.

    Advice to Management

Communication from senior management can be sporadic at times which creates some confusion around the direction of certain initiatives.

    Pros

Great benefits, some really talented hardworking people, and excellent executive leadership. BB&T has integrity and does the right thing, even if doing something unethical could result in a better bottom line. CEO Kelly King lives the BB&T Values. All but one of the Executive Management team members have been with BB&T for at least 10 years, and most of them have been there for more than 20 years. I think promoting to this level from within keeps the company culture and direction consistent and avoids "flavor of the week" strategies.

    Cons

Sometimes people in entry-level positions like Tellers don't get much recognition or many rewards, especially given the pressure they're under to make sales goals and given that they may be the only employees the general public sees. Also, when you move down the chain from Executive Management there are some unprofessional managers in the mix who will do or say anything to get ahead. Every company has a few bad apples, but the real problem here is that people who are good at what they do get by with mistreating and bullying other employees.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your Tellers and pay them well. Get rid of the bad apples at all levels, even if they're "making money for the bank."

    Pros

Great values and mission, truly a company that cares about its employees and clients.

    Cons

Sometimes the core values and mission doesn't flow down to the retail employees or the lower level managers.

    Advice to Management

Work towards hiring managers with higher ethics and morals. While meeting numbers is very important, lower level folks do so by taking advantage of employees and clients.
