    Pros

Most of the executive management recognizes that change is needed and is trying the change to execute on the vision. The benefits, pay, people are great. Given the opportunity to do the job hired for, the job would be fulfilling and rewarding. The levels of management in between have both cultural and talent challenges trusting the new people coming in to do the job.

    Cons

The culture of the bank is resistant to change, especially technology where change is needed the most. Politics for a small bank are worse than the businesses in country. People put their jobs first before the best interests of the bank. Most people in the current jobs lack both the talent and skill to do the current jobs. management does not recognize this gap and the risk it poses.

    Advice to Management

Your leadership training does not allow for weeding out your leaders who fail you. Your bias towards new leaders over old leaders just because of time in bank will ultimately cost you top talent and your next generation of potential leaders based on your culture model. A lot of current employees will soon be former employees if the current culture behaviors continue very shortly.

    Pros

Good Values and culture at company level.

    Cons

Very much a political contest on who gets promoted. Very poor training or sometimes none. I have had to cover the platform side since starting and was never cross trained.

    Advice to Management

Really think about what you say our culture is and what is actually happening at the branch level.

    Pros

Get to work on some interesting projects.

    Cons

At the Raleigh operations division, be prepared for someone to be in the hot seat at all times. Certainly, don't believe the open door policy of management or that they will help you resolve any issues. As a top-performing employee (the only one to get a bonus several years in a row) who brought an employee conflict to management's attention (the person had taken credit for my work, and also created a hostile environment), I was told that although I'd gone above and beyond, the fact that I would have asked for help resolving this situation (there were actually quite a few of them, it is a dog-eat-dog world there) meant that I got no salary increase whatsoever. I was flabbergasted, to say the least. Things went downhill from there. This company's horrible (and often uneducated) senior management caused several good usability engineers to flee as soon as the economy picked up. I tried to stick it out, but it was causing health issues including all-over body pain and migraines. I've worked in difficult environments before, but this one is particularly inhospitable. Some people, no matter whether they scream, throw things, bully, whatever...they will be allowed to continue this destructive behavior.

    Advice to Management

If an SVP doesn't have a college education, they shouldn't be an SVP, as they haven't learned how to handle conflict and not bias themselves. There should be checks and balances to understand why top-performing employees are leaving and what to do to stop them. Care more about your employees and the hostile environment in the Raleigh operations division. Resolve the bullying issues. Talk to employees before they leave.
