    Pros

The company has been around for a long time.

    Cons

The company has been around for a long time; however, the SAME people have been around! Not a forward-thinking, progressive company to work for. All of executive management are cut from the same cloth. If there is diversity in upper level positions, it's just for "show". They keep people around that should have been let go!

    Pros

    Value structure, CEO is amazing,

    Cons

Middle management does not always carry out company values. Extremely sales focused to a fault that we are losing sight of company value structure and client experience

    Advice to Management

Need better division leadership. Need to start grooming mid level employees for a leadership succession plan

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

BB&t treats their employees well, they offer great benefits and are understanding that you have a life outside of work and are understanding when it comes to time off. They acknowledge hard work and are loyal to their employees. They provide their employees with the proper tools to succeed. Overall great place to work.

    Cons

Health benefits can be a little pricey especially if u don't participate in their life force program which closely follows weight and body fat percentage. However if you live a healthy life style this will greatly benefit you.

    Advice to Management

More help in branches. We find ourselves short handed often.

    I worked at BB&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training at BB&T University was great and detailed

    Cons

Rigid schedule, no flexibility. Everyone has to come into work at the same time and leave at the same time. You work from a queue (work is automatically assigned to you), so I do not understand the need for everyone to come in to work at the same time. They are very rigid and will not budge to allow you to work any other hours, unless for a special circumstances.

    Advice to Management

    Listen more to your employers.

I have been working at BB&T (More than a year)

    Pros

Job Stability, Pension plan is good if you are a lifer, Casual Fridays, decent benefits if you are single.

    Cons

Not ideal for younger people, culture is slow to change and risk adverse.

    Advice to Management

Culture needs to change to meet the digital age. There is a real lack of investment in technology compared to other major financial institutions.

    I have been working at BB&T full-time

    Pros

Some flexibility depending on your manager

    Cons

No opportunity for growth or advancement unless you are the favorite of a manager that can move you up. Next to impossible to move internally, unless you have higher ups willing to help you. Very clickish environment. Mediocre pay at best, they put an emphasis on bonuses above a certain level then cut them so they are really non-existent. They prefer certifications over education or actual experience.

    Advice to Management

Examine the favoritism that is occurring, stop attempting to hide the fact that you keep people in Wilson so you can pay them less as the positions in Raleigh pay more. Pay the skilled positions what they are worth and stop the low balling. Stop allowing managers to promote their best friends.

    I have been working at BB&T full-time

    Pros

Stable, established bank that genuinely cares about employee well being. Great company culture that attracts driven and friendly bankers from the southeast.

    Cons

Technology is somewhat obsolete compared to peers. The company has been making strides in improving tech, but the process is ongoing. Rapid career development is not common, employees are rewarded after years of dedication to the bank.

    Advice to Management

The commercial bank is undergoing a lot of structural changes. Management should try not to show their own insecurities and fear of change in front of those they manage.
