Pros
The clothing and the brand itself are amazing. The in-store team is for the most part amazing to work with
Cons
There is no room for growth with this company. They hire people to fill in managerial positions, only to keep them there temporarily and stagnant because they do not want their employees to grow within the company. They prefer to hire externally FOR ALL positions. If you are currently doing the work for a higher position, they do not care. They expect it from you, but do not compensate or recognize you for it. However if you don't do these things, they will immediately find out and you will be reprimanded for it.
Even to encourage growth for other amazing employees is frowned upon. Stylists who have management potential are ignored while they hire incompetent managers who do not even enjoy the brand or quit within less than a month, only to repeat this process all over again.
Coming from a manager currently at BCBG, my advice is do NOT work for this company.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be for the corporate office to get off their comfortable chairs and actually work in the retail stores for a week before they start hounding and calling the in-store managers about mundane issues. They also need to figure out what they are doing because they clearly know nothing about how to run a retail corporation.
The Regional and the District Manager are useless. Instead of sticking up for their managers they run around with their tail between their legs too scared to help people who are loyal to the company grow. The Business Operations Managers are a joke to everyone who works there. They don't do much of anything or know how to run the store yet they are compensated much more highly than in-store managers.
Pros
Friendly and knowledgable co-workers
The air conditioning seems to be working, finally.
Cons
Poor disorganized and unqualified management, old building in bad area, ugly bathrooms, need to shuttle back and forth from parking lot to main building, old computers, old software, trouble getting simple office supplies, poor employee moral.
Advice to Senior Management
When you promote someone, make sure they have a degree.
Consider moving the whole operation to a nicer building in a nicer city.
Consider upgrading all computers and software on a regular basis. This will increase productivity ten-fold.
Have company pep talks once in a while.
Pros
Flexible Hours, dress is casual
No Micro-management
Facilitate employee ideas/recommendations
Internal Growth Opportunity
For women - clothing discount & employee store
Cons
It is a private company so there are still some politics here but erally that's every company. If you play ball, you come out on top.
Pros
Good discount, but you can't wear print
Cons
Nothing ever gets done with lack of hours. Company management is very rude.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate hard work. Being nice and respectful would help.
Pros
Good on your resume (maybe)
Cons
For a company as successful as BCBG, the owners should be ashamed of the facilities they expect their employees to work in. The offices are run-down, the supplies are lacking, and the software is outdated and incompatible with other businesses. It is almost comical how often people quit and upper management is incapable (or uninterested) in making any change.
Do yourself a favor... work elsewhere.
Pros
Although this company is run corporately, they breathe and entrpeneurial spirit. I have leared a great deal from this company.
Cons
Salary does not refelect work load
Advice to Senior Management
Offer a competitive salary to reflect the high end fashion we represent.
Pros
Good pay great discount And easy work
Cons
No growth, a lot of changes in organization from staff to operations....seems like a disorganized mess at times
Advice to Senior Management
Plan, communicate and offer growth opportunities
Pros
They own more than 20 brands and all the employees are very welcoming and nice. The employees come from all around the world. A diverse workforce.
Cons
Don't see much potential for growth opportunities within the company. Starting salaries are quite low so there seems to be no point in working there if your there is no opportunity for growth
Pros
Fellow assistants and associates are a pleasure to work with.
Health Benefits are good.
Shopping discount and on site employee store.
Cons
No parking on site.
Salary is very low compared to comparable positions at other companies.
A lot of time is wasted on finding who to blame instead of fixing the issue.
Advice to Senior Management
You should consider giving your employees a better salary. There is always a high turnover rate at this company. You lose a lot of talented and skilled workers this way.
Pros
The discount. Although, the clothing is poorly made.
Cons
Management is disorganized, rude, disrespectful, overly-demanding, and does not recognize a job well done. Operations systems are from the stone-age. Training does not exist. Worst of all, they screwed up my tax forms, making me have to pay instead of receiving my expected refund. When I called corporate to figure out what happened, they had the nerve to tell me it was my fault and that I need to take it up with my tax preparer! I cannot stress this enough; DO NOT WORK FOR BCBG!!!!
Advice to Senior Management
Fire yourselves.
