I have been working at BCBG as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I liked that we (interns) were given the same respect and treatment as full time associates. It was really awesome to have worked on a summer long project with my co-intern and direct supervisor. I learned a lot about the different systems that they used to track inflow of merchandise and we got to interview all the floor level supervisors for the project. It was almost like consulting internally for BCBG. The discounts were ridiculous. Almost 90% off retail price.

    Cons

We didn't receive much training since our direct supervisor was very busy. Sometimes it can get really busy in a day and sometimes there was absolutely nothing to do. The internship is unpaid so it seems a lot of work for an intern to do without the pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay your interns.

I worked at BCBG full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Discount on clothing. If you are successful Max gives you gift cards! Great parties!

    Cons

Home office mgt is just vicious. Everyone talks about each other behind their backs. Not a team culture. My regional, whom I liked a great deal basically wanted me to get rid of an Area Manager because she knew where the bodies were buried. I got stuck in the middle. It was a witch hunt in-spite of my performance in being top in the company.
The amount of responsibility on the DM's is ridiculous. You are running 3 different business models, they stuff stores with way too many clothes in the stockrooms. They invested in a new computer system that bombed. Opened Partner shops was too fast with no plan. Held lease shop mgrs accountable for theft when they had virtually no control over the external employees that were not BCBG.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You all need to be nice. Learn some manners. It's clothing, you are not curing cancer. You are also hypocrites, you expect too much for very little and do not recognize talent.

    Pros

Just started working here, so far I love the atmosphere and co workers. Pay is great, with just as great benefits.

    Cons

Balancing heavy paperwork and heavy traffic in store. Manager should designate a shift for just paperwork

I have been working at BCBG full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The company is very thorough in detailing what your expectations are. Managers are given divisions of responsibility and it is very easy to see where you are expected to be in a month or year. Employee discount is great. Work/Life balance is awesome and the schedule is flexible, even as part of the management team.

    Cons

It can be hard to figure out details around corporate directives because the communication is not easy to find and the company's intranet site is not intuitive for users. The pay for sales associates is very low and it is extremely difficult for them to make commission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the most important thing to improve is to make it easier for sales associates to make commission. Strong sellers are motivated by money and if they can't make it here they will find another company who will pay much better.
