ProsFlexible..great location and great hours..

ConsNo room for advancement, low salary for financial analyst, horrible health benefits and not a lot of training...Management not always pleasant. High turnover rate due to poor management.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive everyone a chance and not just the favorites....Learn how to communicate professionally...less turnovers will occur.

Prosempowering, entrepreneurial culture. encourages creativity. truly will do anything for a customer or client. not heirarchical.

Cons"new normal" requires almost super-human productivity levels for all employee levels. comp & benefits may be competitive for travel positions but not for positions where the function can cross industries.

Current Employee – been working at BCD Travel full-time for more than 10 years

ProsWork from home possibilties are good.

ConsThis company does not give out any type of bonus to it's agents.

The circle of excellence program is designed by management for mangement. Each year employees are nominated for this program, and get a trip to Mexico, about 70 - 80% are salaried employees who are choosen, very few of front line low payed employees get to attend.

Advice to Senior ManagementThs COE program should be evenly split 50/50 not the current way of doing it!
Promote from within if possible.

There is a glass ceiling in this company. Hourly employees very rarly move into salaried positions.
Pay employees a bonus at the end of the year if the company is profitable.

Former Employee – worked at BCD Travel full-time for more than 8 years

ProsBasic benefits, nothing different or better.

ConsVery poor management, no communication with Team Leaders who in turn fail to advise agents.
Favoritism abundant with Team Leaders. Time management sets unrealistic guidelines that don't allow agents to support inbound client phone calls properly. Agents are required to be at their desks and logging into all apps on their own time and if not signed into their phones at the second their shift starts they are punished for each SECOND they are late. (Employees are given a stop watch) All benefits and required paperwork must also be done on your own time. Lastly they pick and choose what expenses you get reimbursed on so if you work from home beware.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your worker bees. They know what the clients expectations are and travel professionals.. not children in need of babysitters

Atlanta, GA

Current Employee – been working at BCD Travel full-time for more than 7 years

ProsCompany has been around a long time, doesnt take much to outperform others so job security is there. Pretty flexible with hours. Very large company, so advancement opportunities are there.

ConsIf you're good at your job, that is not to advance. Managment overlooks the wallflowers. Sometimes advancement seems to show favoritism. Pay is low compared to regional average.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to be more proactive in rewarding good employees. Some managers need training on how to be less mico managers.

Current Employee – been working at BCD Travel

ProsThe benefits are okay, work at home opportunities are great, some of the travel industry perks are still available (IATAN card, etc).

ConsCommunication between management and employees is abhorrent, pay is not very comparable to other corporate agencies in the area, technology is outdated (still using Windows XP and Office 2003), and many accounts seem to cycle through employees faster than a big box store. Most will never be promoted, unless they are willing to suck up to everyone around them. Management, at times, seems almost incompetent in that emails sent to employees are grammatically incorrect, are severely misspelled, and are generally unprofessional.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop promoting people based on nepotism, and please provided better software. What we have does not allow us to effectively do our jobs.
