I have been working at BCForward full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This job offers a lot of flexibility and excellent benefits as well as a comfortable base salary and the ability to earn unlimited commission. While I am still relatively new to the company, I am overall very satisfied with the training, benefits and management. There is a definite sense of comraderie amongst the employees and management communicates with all employees clearly and regularly.

    Cons

Parking downtown is expensive and not covered (there is public transportation but it doesnt run where I live) but they set it up so that it is less of a burden for me by handling the set up so I really can't complain to much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Nothing right now.

    Pros

    Get pay checks on time

    Cons

Just another body shopper. As long as the client wants you, they take their cut and give you yours. I knew 3 months before my contract would end, but they made no effort to find me another client. The only good recruiter, one that hired me moved out so they didn't bother to find or help me land another job. Anyway I was able to file unemployment once I was out of work.

I have been working at BCForward as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    The job paid the bills.

    Cons

Very impersonal company. The only time I spoke to someone with the company was when I was being recruited for a contract job to HP Enterprise Service. No one contacted me about other opportunities when my contract with HP was coming to an end. To BCForward I was only a revenue source that they could take our leave. I don't recommend anyone working for this company!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about something other than your revenue.

Professional Growth gained from challenging projects with great clients unfortunately can't say the same about BCforward

I worked at BCForward as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, OK benefits and good set of clients for project management assignments.

    Cons

Some of BCforward's client's site management teams are not polished and unqualified to lead a set of professional Project Managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The owner needs more foresight of what segments of the market he wants to operate in and spend a little more $ hiring top quality management team to help him accomplish it. Currently it operates like a small fish with some client management teams with little creativity and limited or no brain power that it's often hard to see the value BCForward brings to the table other than to provide a project manager "yes" person. More often its the clients that leads and expects BCforward to tow the line. Sweat shop mentality or culture develops and morale suffers significantly.

    I worked at BCForward

    Pros

    Very laid back, fun work-environment
Very low stress and very little fear of loosing one's job because of performance or lack thereof
Good PTO and good people who are extremely friendly
Entrepreneur-type individuals can have great success and make very good money.
Commission structure is competitive in regards to market

    Cons

Base pay is low and benefits are an absolute joke. No matching with 401k, health insurance is beyond ridiculous in terms of cost and coverage--HSA that cost a family over $12K in annual premium.
Have to pay for parking and are forced to be in the office everyday
No systems in place to track performance or gage metrics which has bred a "coasting" culture. Too many lackluster performers who show-up and collect a check and perform little to no work on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
Many mid-level managers have zero talent, under-qualified and have absolutely no business in attempting the responsibilities of one's position and collecting the pay which one is receiving. Many lackluster performers have just stuck around long enough to be put in these management positions
No training, no guidance and extreme lack of support from management. This has bread the culture of coasting and just stick around and hope you eventually figure it out.
Star players and performers are leaving at a rapid rate and going to the competition because of not being fully utilized to one's ability and the understanding that one will not be promoted because lackluster players are blocking star player's growth
No structure or systems are in place to sustain the company for a long haul--in 5-10 years this company will sell

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop loosing your star-talent. Too many excellent performers are now competition against you because of the lack of upper management and leadership. Put systems in place to sustain the business and to track metrics to achieve an accurate picture of what a person really "brings to the table" on a daily basis. Understand the reason why many of your vets who have stuck around for years are doing so because they are not qualified for the position they are in and are exploiting the unorganized system. Hold everyone accountable, and it's okay for change to happen.
