    I worked at BDNA

    Pros

BDNA software products are innovative, unique, well engineered and deliver high quality to their customers. The product vision and leadership of the CTO was one of the 3 key reasons I joined BDNA. The culture of the field team I worked for was excellent. It was a well managed group, who were collaborative across all functional roles, positive, nurturing & successful in accomplishing their goals. My manager regularly praised and encouraged me for a job well done (something rarely done in prior roles). It was a fun, healthy environment that I looked forward to every morning whilst I was there.

    Cons

The only drawback were a few executives at headquarters who were disconnected from how to best support the field in their various roles. Unfortunately, well intentioned they may have been, that made life in the field difficult and challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With the recent change in the top leadership, I fully expect the headquarters executive management to be more engaged & fully supportive of the field teams, thus likely making this a good place to work.

I have been working at BDNA (less than an year)

    Pros

Very Creative place with Disruptive technology. There are no boundaries for employees so you can have a ton of fun but you need to be willing to work hard. The company has great products / solutions and customers renew at a very high rate. There are no office politics so be prepared to contribute at every level.

    Cons

too much to do and there are limited resources so it forces you to think differently

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to foster creativity and reward employees for great performance.

    I worked at BDNA

    Pros

Pay was equitable and they bring in lunch.

    Cons

Now it’s my turn. Looking at the over the top 5 star reviews it’s clear they are desperate to put on a good face to replace. I can tell you first hand that the negative reviews are 100% true. So let me save you some time – don’t work here it will be the career slide of your life. BDNA – what’s that stand for? It stands for EVERYTHING wrong with capital markets funding startups without a reason to exist. Greed. So here it is – IT does not want to pay for this product because the value derived is Inarticulatable. But most importantly the CEO has no vision no clue - just read some of his quotes. Face it, BDNA is just another software auditing tool without a vision.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I am going to quote the April 22nd review b/c it's spot on... "Easy advice - remove CEO from the business. His behavior is very unbalanced, his decision-making questionable at best and his megalomaniac need to be right all the time has created a revolving door with anyone talented that joins the company. The only chance BDNA has to survive is to remove him from the operational business.

The other key advice is the company needs to better articulate what the solution provides to businesses"

I have been working at BDNA full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Nice people, decent technology - albeit very niche

    Cons

Very poor culture due to the lack of leadership. Poor communication/administration/employee morale. Highly diluted equity and company very stingy around equity for employees. Compensation for sales people not good as company defers payment on commissions earned for 90 - 120 days because of cash-flow issues. Very few referenceable customers and poor post-sale implementation/support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Easy advice - remove CEO from the business. His behavior is very unbalanced, his decision-making questionable at best and his megalomaniac need to be right all the time has created a revolving door with anyone talented that joins the company. The only chance BDNA has to survive is to remove him from the operational business.

The other key advice is for the company to stop solely positioning their solution as a ServiceNow Plug-in. It is an enterprise solution and this narrow focus dilutes that value of the solution. In addition, the company needs to better articulate what the solution provides to businesses. While I was with the company, the positioning was constantly changing (i.e. Data as a Service, Data Cloud, Common language of IT, Data Quality, IT Genome, etc.)

    Pros

    - Excellent place for engineers
    - Good work/life balance
    - Startup nature, get to work with people from higher posts
    - Can contribute to ideas even at a junior level
    - Very friendly people to work with. You get comfortable with the team and other employees very easily.
    - Company has made great progress regarding the products are not stopping here.
    - Free lunches once a week and occasional company outings and happy hours

    Cons

    - Need more engineers in the team (which I believe is in the roadmap)
    - Involves late night work sometimes (which would possibly be in any startup company)

    Pros

New products launching but need marketing support =leads

    Cons

    Need marketing!/awareness/branding!
    What does BDNA stand for?
Top exec sits at cube in main open office environment--babysitting/intimidating/smothering environment
B office quality, lame facilitates, a/c poor.
Culture very silent, not social, stale, boring, and morale mediocre.
Very diverse so no unity, cohesiveness, interaction.
    Understaffed in all but engineering.
small team and geographically dispersed to divisivea nd inefficient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move top exec out of main employee area.
    become a non-engineering/techy driven co.
    Improve morale.
    Try some employee recognition......
Make culture upbeat, friendly, and enjoyable-not the opposite.
Special events are nice but need to improve offcie environment-work day feel.
    Stop marketing dept revolving door!
Admit you attract /hireB players if lucky not A players!
Staff up to increase chances for growth.

    I worked at BDNA

    Pros

Engineering group is great, and very easy to work with.
Far less office politics than most companies I've seen.
Their technology can be truly great, if they'd just focus on developing one thing and being the best at that one thing.

    Cons

This company, as an organization, has the attention span of a sugared up 8-year-old. If you work here, you should expect to have a new "top priority" directive from the CEO on a nearly monthly basis, with no rhyme or reason as to why the priorities and strategies are changing. This tends to generate tons of wasted work, as the rest of the company chases their tails trying to keep up with the priority du jour.

There have also been far too many management changes, especially on the sales and marketing side of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a good strategy, and stick with it. The way you're doing it now, you're confusing your customers. Or even better: pick a competent executive team and stick with them.
