    Pros

The corporate culture allows for a challenging but flexible work environment

    Cons

Although the firm espouses the "One Firm" approach individual offices tend to operate as silos.

    Pros

Pleasant people, felt like a local firm except for the administrative issues associated with a larger national firm.

    Cons

No different than any other accounting firm. No work/life balance at certain times of year.

I worked at BDO International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excelent benefits, 401k, health insurance, performance bonuses (cash and others), great parties each year. You get exposure in so many different businesses where you can specialize.

    Cons

Long working hours (something really normal in Puerto Rico), be ready to work at least 10 to 12 hours on a daily basis and 16 on peak times. You are required to charge at least 8 hours daily to clients (could be combined between clients) but you don't always have billable time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forget about your work-life succes philosophy, go back to the work-life balance the employees deserve. Slavery was abolished long time ago.

I worked at BDO International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The best experience and work life balance ... Even better than the big 4 and with better compensation and benefits.

Love management and their true open door policy and are willing to help make things right and work with you.

    Cons

Sometimes long hours are required but it's only for a short time. Haven't worked over 50 hrs.

  7. The company provides a lot of chances for one to learn and grow but not so sufficient in remunerating its staff.

I have been working at BDO International as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Good working environment, congenial working atmosphere, less stressed as compared to the Big Four, close relationships between colleagues and lastly many more opportunities to learn.

    Cons

The basic salary is usually lower and not so easy to get promoted after reaching certain level. Less competitive if to consider jump ship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better increase benefits for the employees to combat brain drain issues.

I worked at BDO International as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly colleagues and management - you can ask questions or request help any time from everyone. Supportive company culture, you feel like really being part of the team from day one. The tasks are challenging and you get responsibility from the beginning - especially when working in such a small team as Corporate Finance. The experience what I gained over 3 months were a perfect extension of my theoretical knowledge what I brought from university.

    Cons

Small space for personal development at the beginning. Quite repetitive tasks, which can be performed easily. The challenge sometimes comes from time pressure, not the complexity of the work. In 2011 there was no graduate or intern program for this department, so everything was a bit ad hoc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on promoting the company at career fairs and not only the Audit department. In Hungary it is a really sad trend that only those graduates matter for companies, who got their degree in Finance or Economics. However, Management, International Business or Marketing graduates also have the abilities to perform tasks on an entry level and specialize later.

Current Contractor - Audit Senior in George Town (Cayman Islands)

I have been working at BDO International as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Salary was very good, Job was interesting, work/life balance was actively encouraged. Friendly, good manager support in most instances. Open door policy with all management.

    Cons

Communication. Got told I was being promoted, given new salary etc and 3 months was then told my contract would not be renewed. Expect no loyalty, give no loyalty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't screw people over, you just make disgruntled employees. You have a brilliant company and everything going for you.

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
