    Pros

I work for an excellent, people-focused manager and with a highly-skilled team of co-workers who are professional and fun to be around. After coming from a very stringent and demoralizing company, working in a hardworking, yet relaxed environment seem like heaven!

The benefits are great, along with tuition reimbursement, which is almost unheard of in most companies. My salary was right on point with what I desired.

I plan on staying here for as long as they'll have me, or until I decide to leave.... It won't be anytime soon!

    Cons

The facility I work in is located in a shoddy part of town...

    Advice to Management

Continue to be supportive and thanks for having our back!

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn how to work in a highly stressful environment
Pay was above average but expect to work long hours and weekends
Product is complex thus engineers are kept busy to introduce design solutions for these innovative products

    Cons

    No work life balance
Crisis management is in full swing due to overload in engineering, supply chain and operations
Lack of trust leads to micro-management and stifles decision making. Too much emphasis is placed on managing the message by senior leadership team. More focus needs to be on solving the issues.

    Advice to Management

Learn to say no and mean it.
Allow IPTs to make decisions and don't constrain them to internal suppliers.
    Listen more and dictate less

Direct supplier to airlines globally. Strong ability to win business.

    Cons

Difficult to juggle education & work since it often requires long hours and occasional travel.

  7. Helpful (1)

Misrepresentation of long hours expected vs. work schedule indicated at time of hire

    Pros

in general, talented staff members work well together and maintain high level of enthusiasm for non flight critical aerospace product lines (yawn...)

    Cons

company policy states 9/80 workweek; consistent unpaid overtime 7 days a week is expected from salaried employees (60 - 70 hours/week)

    Advice to Management

Invest in more technical workers to even out workload and less on "program managers"

    Pros

Ability to wear multiple hats. Opportunity for advancing one's knowledge.

    Cons

The Global Seating Aftermarket Group is in a downward spiral due to poor middle and upper management. AVOID! They continue to have lay-offs, starting back in spring of 2013, keeping only the young/new/less experienced employees to reduce costs. At the same time management continues to point fingers and stab their co-workers in their backs in attempt to keep their positions and/or to try to advance their position even though they are not stellar employees. The teams do NOT work well together, especially when there are cross-business groups (Aftermarket with OEM). HR is NOT for the employee, it is soley focused on requests of management!!! They will not investigate inter-office issues un-biased/truthfully. Pay was not commensurate with the roles/responsibilities given.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with respect. Do not string carrots to entice your employees with empty promises. Provide recognition for hard work. Allow those best suited for the job at hand, the ones performing the work, to work with the intended customer to avoid delays/set-backs/mis-directions from the "grapevine" effect. HR should do exit interviews with employees to have a solid understanding of what working conditions exist.

    Pros

Higher than average pay for industry. Better than average health benefits.

    Cons

Overtime of 50+ hours a week is the expected norm, not disclosed at time of interview. No official compensation for overtime in any form.

Required travel to offsite facilities with little or no notice is typical. Boring product is rehashed countless times, each time adding to previous errors exponentially.

New product development goes to a few people while the rest of the engineering staff changes out washers and screws on Engineering Changes.

Quality Assurance department is legally blind.

Pseudo electrical engineering (wire routing) dominates a lot of "new" program work and it's all to easy to be come pigeon holed with that task since nobody in their right mind would want it.

Unrealistic schedules introduce unnecessary pressure. Tasks change daily and it's difficult if not impossible to take a project from beginning to end, let alone without constant interruptions brought about by poor project planning from above.

CAD modeling practices are well below industry standards.

The buddy-system is very prevalent along with old-school management methods.

Disrespectful of your time and personal career aspirations. Frequent management changes.

Countless meetings that accomplish nothing but absorb time you could be spending actually getting something done.

This company accels at taking a relatively simple product and making it exceedingly overcomplicated and stressful to deliver.

    Advice to Management

Point the finger at yourselves if you want to find the true root of your problems. Stop standing in front of a magnet board four hours a day figuring out who you'll blame next for your mistakes.

    Pros

Thinking hard but cannot really come up with anything...
Some nice co-workers and some really horrible old timers

    Cons

*That's the way we've done it for the last 30 years, you hear that one allot.
*Friday at 3:30... we need you to be here tomorrow and maybe Sunday, we'll let you know tomorrow
*No training whatsoever, but your expected to know what your doing on day one
*Upper management will never stick up for you no matter how hard your working to do a good job, the knife in your back was inserted on day one
*If you work in test lab expect to be treated like children, you are looked down upon as if you have no self worth and treated accordingly.
*No life outside of work due to lack of your own personal space or time
*Run away from this lousy place as quickly as you can

    Advice to Management

Hire new management and put an emphasis on creating a great working atmosphere, not one solely bent on wearing people down. Encourage people to work together and work as a team not as adversaries.

    Pros

They allow you to have a lot of independance to work on your projects. They try to set out specific goals for you each year.

    Cons

It is sometimes difficult to get stuff done because they are under staffed and people don't have a lot of time for anything that is for continuous improvement of existing lines. The major issue is that products are so low volume and diverse for each customer that people spend all there time trying to meet customer demands. They also have to support products for 10-15 yrs so there is a ton of legacy work.

    Advice to Management

You need a continuous improvement team that can perform audits without needing to support customer needs.
