I have been working at BE Aerospace full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There is some room for growth for those who stand out. The benefits are very good; 401k, educational reimbursement, health, etc.

    Cons

Many employees work excessive amounts of hours during the week, some averaging 60 hrs. The compensation a lot less than expected for being in this industry. Middle management is the bottle neck of this company. There is no trust between subordinates and their superiors whatsoever. Everything is about #'s and not the quality of life of employees. Any attempts at improving the company culture have not worked due to the hypocrisy behind it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share the profits of this business with employees by providing decent bonuses, and company sponsored events that include all departments. Hire enough people to alleviate excessive overtime.

I worked at BE Aerospace full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Employees are friendly and willing to help any way they can.

    Cons

Working for B/E Aerospace in Tucson who will work seven days a week and most days will be at least 12 hours.
Upper management doesn’t set realistic deadlines and don't get involved with projects until it is apparent that the deadline isn't going to be met.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved with projects from inception to completion and realize that your employees are your best asset and to make them more productive they need to have a work life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give people the ability to work at home more.

I have been working at BE Aerospace full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent travel opportunities, developement program level general aptitude of employees is astonishing, Overtime paid for salaried employees, Financial iIncentives for program deadline completion common. Progressive office structure layout much like Microsoft (Ease of communication). Professional enviornment, free soda and snacks.

    Cons

Long, loing hours required (I never dropped below 60 hrs/wk) Sr. Management turn-over is extremely high, direction from leadership very low (Employees tend to set the course, Many complaints to BE Aerospace corporate on this matter). EXTREMELY siloed work enviornment (if you need to coordinate and ensure commitments with other departments, forget it), Most development product details and subassemblies are purchased or fabricated in the Philppines. Long term employment in USA is risky. People are required to work hard. Benefits are okay, not great for the cost. Extremely antiquated software (BE Aerospace owned software is clunky and rarely interfaces with any other software).. Always required to plug holes instead of fixing problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clear about what is needed and expected..who, what, when, where and why. Chronic frustration by employees when management expectations are not met, yet unclear what was expected in the first place.

While it had it's ups and downs, I enjoyed my time with this company.

    I worked at BE Aerospace

    Pros

They had a smaller company feel even though they were part of a large, global company. They offered good benefits and provided opportunities to get to know your coworkers outside of the office.

    Cons

Definitely top heavy on management. There were a lot of people that would often have a "pass it over the wall" mentality which caused delays in getting things accomplished due to the work bouncing back and forth. Many functional areas had people doing the workload of more than one person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in good people before they are gone. Hire more people to meet the workload demands.

    I worked at BE Aerospace

    Pros

    The Initial pay is decent.

    Cons

There are many challenges working at B/E Aerospace, Bohemia, NY. Here a few: departments are in constant battle and everyone is quick to throw someone under the bus- program management fights with Supply chain which fights which engineering dept (because their designs fail lab testing and they constantly have to tweak) , engineering battles with Program Management because they are always over budget. Doesn't make for a good work environment- constantly have to denfend yourself when you already have the workload of 5 people. If you don't work at least 65 hours/week, it will be used against you.

Incompetence at all levels; from VP of engineering to directors and managers down the ch-ain

I worked at BE Aerospace full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Variety of work coming in from customers around the globe along with a great perspective of what is really important in commercial aviation.

    Cons

Ego is more important than integrity in executing and delivering a proven and successful product. Managers and directors are directed and encouraged by upper management to circumvent processes set in place to ensure repeatable quality and safety outcomes required by varying levels of customer requirements. Speaking up and doing what is necessary to produce a known and successful outcomes results in bullying conflicts with threats toward livelyhood and demotion; it is not a breeding ground of success, but rather a longterm and inevitable failure. People are hired and promoted by personal relationship ties in various forms and not real results; nepotism in various forms runs rampant in all levels of management and executive leadership. All management leverage and plagiarize the hard work and innovation of other employees and call it their own; integrity is a not an option.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retake your college ethics class and learn what means to stand behind a product and a company name. Dont be afraid or too proud to do what is right. Treat the company and the product like it were your family with honesty, integrity, and objectivity.
