I have been working at BE Aerospace full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

So far, I've enjoyed working with some great and intelligent people. I've been given the opportunity to get involved in some projects to help make the company more dynamic and efficient.

    Cons

Due to the tremendous growth of the company over the past 5 years, the business processes have not caught up with the growth of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make an effort to include a multi-dimension perspective from every functional area within the company and less of an engineering-only perspective. Also, stress the importance of the mission statement and values of the company so that everyone has a clear understanding of where the company is going.

I have been working at BE Aerospace

    Pros

Worked a few years in the Winston-Salem based seating business segment as Senior Program Manager. I enjoyed the people I worked with and the area very much. management was very demanding with fair compensation and an outstanding relocation package

    Cons

For me personally, the seating business was simply not technically challenging enough thus, decided to leave the company after two short years making my departure more of a personal choice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was visible/approachable and available to the staff. However, could have had a better communication about ongoing and future business activities and challenges.

I worked at BE Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

B/E is a growing company with a strong business strategy, a great product and a huge global presence. They are led by a shrewd Executive Management Team with a goal of being the best in everything they do. They are diversified enough in product and market to withstand the unstable market.

    Cons

Although their Senior Executive Management appears to believe in its people being their "BEST & MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE" the attitude doesn't filter down past that --- There is an attitude of "whip the troops harder with a bigger stick". Because there are endless new projects to do without taking a breath and reviewing the results or impact on the big picture much churn gets created with conflicting deadlines.

IF YOU AREN'T ONE OF THE GOOD OL' BOYS - WATCH YOUR BACK --- THEY HAVE NO LOYALTY TO THOSE WHO PUT IN THE TIME, AND THEIR EXPERTISE ... THEY JUST USE EMPLOYEES

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

COMMIT to the Senior Executive mantra of appreciating their employees.. not with empty words and gestures but with genuine commitment. Mentor employees if there are issues and don't just work 'em harder -- communicate at all levels not just in the "Boys Club" Meetings

Personal life balance is not a concern... more carrot - less stick !

Provide genuine opportunity for growth and have those conversations with employees when things need improvement or better yet.... Career guidance - "WHERE DO YOU WANT GO NEXT -- LET ME WORK WITH YOU ON THAT.." Management needs to realize that their primary job is people --

Former Contractor - Quality Engineer in Tucson, AZ

I worked at BE Aerospace as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

A company with strong growth and lots of work, a real asset for the Tucson community (and for the Nogales, Mexico community with B/E's large sister plant). Their product is very custom but relatively high volume, a challenge for sure. The people they've hired are top notch and great to work with. The atmosphere is an interesting mix of skilled technicians, engineers, planners, and other professionals. The facilities are comfortable to work in; lots of walking between buildings though!

    Cons

B/E's growth has made it difficult to meet the customers' demands in a timely manner, a good problem to have but tricky to improve quickly. Quick growth can translate into lots of extra hours for employees, which is the case now. For hourly people maybe not so bad since B/E is generous with overtime, but long hours aren't so great for salaried folks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A serious upgrade in Process Management is needed. A lot of wasted time and resources re-working items is occurring. Robust electronic tracking would validate this and reveal common fault areas to fix. Basic Six Sigma techniques should be studied, embraced, and implemented by upper management.

    Cons
