I have been working at BHS part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Healthy relationship with many co-workers on an individual basis. Decent working hours with many possibilities of overtime for those in need of more money. Solid opportunities to progress.

    Cons

Some tensions between co-workers but nothing that influences the working environment. Little flexibility with shift hours when it comes to exams and other priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it easier for workers to get time off when it comes to outside activities.

I have been working at BHS part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great - 25% discount in all Arcadia Brands
Gives part time staff the opportunity to progress even in a part time role - eg, part time supervisor

    Cons

Minimum wage, and doesn't increase much as you go through the ranks until senior management.

I worked at BHS part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic and passionate people, took me on even though I just turned 15, and 7-8 years later I have amazing job prospects ahead of me. Learned life skills I will never forget.

    Cons

Planning was more of a 'wing it on the day' thing in the café, and was often a downfall, but lessons were learned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The managers often disappeared for hours on end, with far too many 'ciggy breaks'. Also, the dishwasher kept breaking, and I had to spend hours after my shift ended washing dishes by hand even though I was busy prepping food for the next day.

I have been working at BHS part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

have made alot of friends and a few there that are irritating at best, but that's life

    Cons

always making cuts to staffing and budgets , which yes in the current climate is needed but trying to run a store on so few is testing on us workers. also choosing the wrong people to push forward in the company... they don't want to work only dictate orders to everyone else and talk down to people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

show loyalty to your staff, be more vigilant of people abusing power, make people feel wanted and appreciated and a decent rate of pay.
