Friendly team environment

Travel Service Center Representative (Former Employee)
Edina, MN

I worked at BI Worldwide as a contractor for less than a year

ProsWonderful employee appreciation. Great interdepartmental team work. Fun atmosphere. Love the level of energy and activity - no one is bored!

ConsLong-term temps do not receive ANY benefits. It is difficult to get your foot in the door as they have extremely high standards for both temps and employees.

Everything about this company strikes me as odd.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Eden Valley, MN

I worked at BI Worldwide full-time for less than a year

ProsRegularly held fun events with alcohol provided.
Relatively good pay for temps.
Occasional overtime available.

ConsLong stretches of mundane cube farm work in windowless silent office.
"Satellite office" is in the middle of nowhere and the rest of the company does not talk to or care about this location (including the CEO who never visits).
Secretive culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow that you care about the people that do not work in your immediate vicinity. Distribute those perks evenly.

Need to be creative, always "on" and well prepared

Business Development Director (Former Employee)

I worked at BI Worldwide full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat sales teams and supportive upper management
Amazing department teams, dedicated to success
Teamwork is the key to success here
There are opportunities everywhere you look. you just have to keep looking

ConsIt's best if you're working in one of the larger offices otherwise you feel left out of the loop
The creative solutions you can bring to the table are literally endless. That's very exciting yet very challenging to focus as a sales person.

Okay but not great place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at BI Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCoworkers are fun and bright. Salary is good depending on job position and department. BI offers a lot in the way of 'extras' for employees such as extra paid days off, parties, bands, etc... though finding the time to attend can be difficult due to work load.

ConsThe company does not do a good job of practicing the values preached to clients such as Employee Engagement and Measurable Results. Direct management does not take the time to get to know the employees, understand the challenges faced on a day-to-day basis, or properly on-board/train new hires. Work days can be long (10 hours/day + ) which is difficult if you have a family or life outside the workplace.

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Mixed Reviews - Great Staff, Poor Leadership, Poor Management

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at BI Worldwide full-time for more than 5 years

ProsPrivately held, family atmosphere
Energetic and talented younger staff
Great place for someone to start their career
Numerous company events

ConsPoor Leadership and Upper Management
Non-competitive salaries and bonuses
Not a good place to stay for too long
Poor physical work conditions - outdated

Advice to Senior ManagementThe Leadership circle is cliquish and entrenched. Most mid/upper-management has little experience outside of BI. Competing business units make daily business frustrating. Remote sales staff are typically anti-BI and pro client making daily life difficult and unsatisfying.

Vendors are the unpaid employees of BI

Instructional Design & Development (Former Employee)
Minneapolis, MN

I worked at BI Worldwide as a contractor for more than a year

ProsHere and there, you meet a few Account Reps or VPs that are smart, of integrity, and on the right track for delivering education and training the way it should be delivered.

ConsI truly believe this company views vendors and freelancers as unpaid employees. They like to pull you in on projects with little notice, little promise on the "back end" of things, little gratitude, and work which amounts to significant free time delivered for BI to gain business. This can go on and on if one allows. Pay-off? Still waiting.

Advice to Senior ManagementDefinitely need to unify as a team, as the company is VERY dispersed. And certainly, more respect for the vendors and freelancers that essentially are the building blocks of your business.
