    I worked at BJ Services

    Pros

This company was a stiff competitor with the other major service companies. Baker does not understand pressure pumping and is ruining what was once a great place to work.

    Cons

Baker Hughes has ruined the pressure pumping side of this business. They are letting go anyone who sticks their neck out or bucks the Baker Oil Tools mentality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pressure pumping does not run like oil tools.

Former Employee - AFT in Rock Springs, WY

    I worked at BJ Services

    Pros

Great way to earn money quick, some weeks I was in overtime after two days of work, but keep in mind that it is a high stress and dangerous job.

    Cons

the program I was hired into was cancelled, I was one month away from completing the training!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You make some rules that look good on the surface but to transfer those to the field setting just doesn't work. Safety is a top priority but some of your rules put you into a more dangerous position than one should be in.

    I worked at BJ Services

    Pros

    Money and Benefits were OK
Severence Package when Laid off after 4 years was decent (1 week/year pay + unused vacation and 3 month extension of Medical)

    Cons

Personal contribution to business success completely unrelated to bonus
    Very little management support
    Poor product performance
    Penny wise and Pound foolish

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We spent an enormous amount of time on safety training and a class defining Value Added Profits. We spent ZERO time targeting new business, new products, and markets, Basically, as long as you stayed sober and never had an accident, no one noticed you were alive.

I have been working at BJ Services

    Pros

The Engineers are laid back and great to work with.
Im not micro managed like other places
The place is laid back and quite to work at

    Cons

Some Engineers/Managers are pushy with there work and want there's before anyone elses.
When you ask for something like time off or other they act like you never busted your butt for them.
Those few people don't really show a true apriciation for you.
A few send you to others cus they dont want the reposibility.
Some people are lazy and management doesn't do anything, then you get stuck with there work sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees and don't take them for granted, because other wise your works going to sit in the pile.

I have been working at BJ Services

    Pros

Great place to work overall. Very flexible when it comes to time off for family. Excellent pay and benefits. Perform well and bonuses can be very rewarding. Very safety conscientious.

    Cons

A lot of opportunities for advancement but rules for advancement do not apply to everyone. I did the job of an employee several pay grades above me for a year after he quit with out the pay increase or title. I was required to do extensive training classes for the promotion. Same scenario with another employee happened and he was promoted with less experience and less training.

    Understaffed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think job positions for efficiency experts would benefit the company. I see a lot of inefficient job practices that seem to cut into the bottom line.
