    Pros

The company has a really strong dedication to the local communities it serves. Also, provides a lot of opportunities for career growth both at the store and corporate level.

    Cons

Not a lot of negatives to working for BJ's. It's technology it's as up to speed as other retailers, but it's working to provide members with the best experience and employees with the tools they need.

    Pros

Opportunity to learn various positions (I worked there 3 years and had 4 different positions, plus covered the duties of 2-3 others), some people in retail really are decent and hard-working and will have your back. Some schedule flexibility if you want to work part-time, go to school, etc.

    Cons

Pay is lousy regardless of title and work-life balance non-existent (work holidays, weekends, etc). Massive divide between those who work hard and those who simply collect a paycheck. Most damning, middle and upper management is not very intelligent -- for example, concocting a story of theft to justify firing me when the true reason was that the new GM at my store simply didn't like me. BJ's lags behind Sam's and Costco in sales numbers for a reason. The company is not run as well.

    Advice to Management

Take a page from Costco - pay employees more and treat them better. I've worked at both stores and the difference is night and day.

    Pros

I got a bjs membership and I worked with decent employees, wish they could have been treated better by upper management.

    Cons

Not enough people working night crew, just four in a high volume store. BJ's also tanked in that year closing many stores and firing 600+ people.

    Advice to Management

For an company that makes so much money you should treat your employees better, and don't over work them.

    Pros

Get a free BJ's Membership, which can be shared with family/friends. Good benefits and access to meet a handful of people.

    Cons

"Required" to work well over 40 hours, which you are compensated. SOMETIMES, you are rewarded a comp day, but not promised.

    Advice to Management

Stop being self centered and focus and overall wellness or the clubs and the employees. The management is often very rude and unsupportive..

    Pros

Good place to be if you want to quickly and efficiently learn good customer service. The company's policies + an immense amount of idiot customers will teach you effective customer service skills that transfer anywhere else.

    Cons

Crap hours that are never guaranteed. Payroll cuts is something you should get used to even if full-time. Part-time hours are 3-4 hours per day, at ludacris hours, for 5 days a week If you work perishables, expect to be in the building at 5am, and at 2-3am for monthly inventory. The pay does not justify waking at 3am to be at work, or working 4 hour shifts on weekends. The management is very disrespectful, especially Laurie, which frequently goes on power trips. The majority of mid-level managers have no idea how to perform their jobs. If you have half a brain, expect to perform a good chunk of their duties, even if policy that does not give an hourly employee the right to do so is in place.

    Advice to Management

Go back to school and learn how to run a business. Regional managers, fire the whole club and start fresh. Also, pay more to attract better talent and learn to communicate.

    Pros

People are good for the most part. On-site cafeteria. Some upper management are great, some not so much.

    Cons

Lots of politics and it is absolutely a company that thinks you should be grateful that you have a job. No one wants to make a decision. There are literally meetings to discuss what was discussed in previous meetings.

    Advice to Management

Stop firing the little fish every time there is a bad year. Change needs to start from the top down not the other way around. It's not an assistants fault that numbers weren't met when LS is making the decisions.

    Pros

-The gas station is pretty laid back. We're a small team of 3 which I feel makes us better at maintaining how things are out here.

    -benefits for full timers

    Cons

-The pay is definitely below what's deserved
    -Most of management

    Advice to Management

Start treating your employees like people and not just drones that you control. If you hire someone for a certain position then keep them at that position. There's so many call outs because no one wants to come in and find out they have to do a job they didn't sign up for. It's unfair to them
