    Pros

Still looking for the best reason. Most companies these days have no honesty and integrity. At least we have a job for now.

    Cons

Lack of communication on what's happening until after the fact. No direction on what is going to happen so you can plan your life.

    Advice to Management

Be more honest with employees and communicate better. Don't make promises you do not intend to honor or have no intentions to keep.

    Pros

Great people to work with. They care about you at work and personally. They recognize your talent and give you opportunity to advance. Good benefits. Flexible work hours.

    Cons

Slow pace in the office. Lack of transparency on financials and management, some managers were not entirely honest either. Communication to the top could be time consuming due to many gates.

    Pros

Excellent health insurance. Directors that are in position are good and knowledgable at what they do, especially on the non-patient care side (finance, revenue cycle management)

    Cons

There are some managers and supervisors in place that continuously bring the company down whether it be through bad hiring decisions, gossiping about their employees to other employees, or not understanding how their employees do their day to day to functions which would seem pretty important since it's their job to manage and lead them through it. I don't think I've ever worked for a group of people as unprofessional as I do right now.

I worked at BJC HealthCare (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent rigor around financial goals and objectives. Wonderful environment to learn the business of healthcare. Lean/Six Sigma based thinking. BJC Learning Institute great concept.

    Cons

Lip service on diversity. Huge disparity between the compensation of the VPs versus the directors and managers. Questionable ethics.

    Advice to Management

When you look around and see faces that only look like yours (with the exception of two yes women) consider making the really tough choice and acting on diversity rather than just talking about it.

    Pros

Great work/life balance and benefits, engaged leadership at the manager and director level

    Cons

No employee development program. Despite several very positive employee reviews, receiving an advanced degree through a BJC program, and reaching out to people to try to recieve assistance with growing my career, I was not able to find a new role within the organization when the time came. I ended up having to look outside of the company (and eventually ended up at another healthcare company in StL), which was very dissappointing to me. I wish I would have been able to grow my career with BJC.

    Advice to Management

Develop a better program to help advance your employees. You are losing many good people at the current time. Also, tuition reimbursement is a great benefit for your employees, but it is not being utilized well by BJC right now. When you are paying for someone to get a Master's degree, I would think it would be in the company's best interest to sit down with that individual and talk about how BJC can benefit from it.
