I have been working at BJC HealthCare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Meaningful work with the opportunity to improve healthcare. The company provides good work-life balance through flex time and alternative work environment. The people are great--motivated, intelligent and cooperative.

    Cons

Given the instability in the industry, having a clear strategy and plans to achieve it would be helpful. Presently, there are too many objectives with unclear priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe this company would benefit by providing more opportunties for sharing of ideas.

I have been working at BJC HealthCare part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good insurance, positive work envirnment. The staff are really nice and helpful. It seems that there would be lots of room for improvement to grow within this company so I'm glad that I have the opportunity to be apart of such a nice company.

    Cons

The benefits here at BJC are ok if you work full time but unfortunately I only work part time so I only qualify for certain benefits but I'm not complaining. There is only mostly 12 hours shifts which could be a downfall to some but I don't mind working just three days a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think they are good people they are always around to ask questions if need be they are very involved with the growth and development of the hospital.

I have been working at BJC HealthCare full-time

    Pros

Co-workers- wonderful caring people work here.

    Cons

Understaffing- nurses are frequently put on call even though it leaves the others with unsafe ratios

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Patient satisfaction scores would go up if the nurses were not understaffed

I worked at BJC HealthCare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I think the best thing BJC has going for it is its association with Washington University.

    Cons

Not consistent with pain management. Nurses have to work through breaks and our often over staffed. Not good for a top hospital even though staffing really made an effort to stand out with JACHO and Magnet representatives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Poor morale. Hear of CEO with bonuses but find staff have to work through breaks despite 12 hour mandatory shifts. ER wait needs improved. Better coordination with discharged patients to prevent readmission.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
