    Pros

    Many great employees, benefits, 401k match, pension. Top doctors. Nice facilities. Free parking. Good vacation time. Tuition remission. Yearly employee satisfaction survey. Opportunities too be within organization.

    Cons

    Passive-aggressive management, once job started management had no recollection of recruitment discussions including incentivizing promises. If a project gets a budget it will be implemented regardless of the readiness of staff or processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    There are a lot of great people working for BJC just trying to do the right thing. Don't underestimate their ethical commitment or undermine their credibility. Don't overload them and push beyond reasonable workload that is how you lose good people. People don't leave jobs, they leave bad managers.

    Co-workers- wonderful caring people work here.

    Cons

    Understaffing- nurses are frequently put on call even though it leaves the others with unsafe ratios

    Patient satisfaction scores would go up if the nurses were not understaffed

    Can't think of anything that was any good

    Cons

    Low pay
    IT manager who is over the Windows 7 migrations was the worst I have ever dealt with in my 21+ years
    Talked down to by the manager
    All the employees of this manager (Perm and Contractor) voiced their dislike of her and told me on many occasions they were miserable there.
    The entire project was completely mis managed and unorganized.
    You were expected to find you way around this hospital alone and most of the employees didn't know where all the service and non public hallways were.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire the manager. I have no idea how she was let into this position but she has no business being there.

    Large enough to work for long-term and see SO many sides of healthcare. A great place to forge a long-term career.

    Parking at some of the larger entities is sometimes a challenge.

    Pros

    Still one of the highest rated hospital systems in the country, though it seems to be slipping a bit. You can feel good you are making a difference in peoples lives.

    The IT systems are on very current technology for an older hospital systems.

    Cons

    Salaries are average to low.

    The health benefits are surprisingly poor for one of the top hospitals in the country.

    There are too many middle managers who have become stagnant in their positions.

    The doctors are prima donnas. They have too much influence over areas, they know nothing about like IT.

    Clear out dead weight in middle management.

    Good benefits, great managers, personal and professional growth opportunities, hire from within, very pleasant work environment, diverse workforce, great work/life balance,

    Hiring can be very competitive due to the focus on finding the right candidate for each position. There really are no cons that I am aware of to working here.

    Keep listening and dialoguing. Information that flows both ways is great for morale and encourages loyalty.

    If there's one close to your house, go for the convenience. There are a lot of urgent cares also that BJC owns.

    Cons

    Employee satisfaction is not a priority. Employee engagement surveys are not taken seriously and a waste of time. Employees are not heard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't be so obvious about mistreatment of employees. It's very obvious and very disconcerting. That is why turn over is high.
